Movie Reviews of Tron (20th Anniversary Collector's Edition)

Movie Review: What Sci-Fi Fan wouldn't want Tron?
Summary: 5 Stars

Seriously... do I even need to review it? What sci-fi fan wouldn't want the best almost 100% compuer made movie of it's time period?

Movie Review: Intelligent Design
Summary: 5 Stars

Since I first saw Tron in the theaters, I thought it provided an interesting and plausible take on what in recent years has come to be called "intelligent design" theory. Arent't we are all just programs, but with DNA as our (evolving) code?

As for the identity of the programmer, well, reasonable people can differ. I kind of like the Jeff Bridges paradigm.

Philosophical stuff aside, Tron is a good sci-fi flick and an entertaining ride. I'd suggest it laid the foundation for The Matrix, some 17 years earlier. Even though it's a Disney movie, it probably won't (unlike Bambi) horrify your kids. I have watched it several times over the years and am sure I will do so again.

Movie Review: Classic
Summary: 5 Stars

I just watched this again after first seeing it over twenty years ago when I was a kid. I was blown away by how beautiful the imagery is and I thought the story was great too. The film definitely still holds up and looks better than most stuff released now a days.
Some of the extras are unnecessary but "The making of Tron" was very well done and worth the purchase.

Movie Review: A Milestone in Computer Animation inside the World of a Computer
Summary: 3 Stars

Man's next frontier is inside the digital world of a computer in Disney's Tron, a groundbreaking movie with it's computer animated world within' a computer starring Jeff Bridges as computer genius Kevin Flynn, who is abducted into this civilization he helped create. It's a fantastic & mind blowing experience, a Disney classic, a SC-FI triumph about inner space instead of outer space or time travel. Watch Disney's Tron.

Movie Review: Send in the Logic Probe!!
Summary: 3 Stars

When I saw "Tron" in the theater with a friend, the title of this review made him laugh for two minutes. He was a computer tech for the Department of Defense and got the joke immediately.

Tron suffers for that. Many of the jokes were a little too inside for anyone not computer savvy (remember, this was the early '80's). Having said that, the film is fun and worth owning. It was slightly controversial for Disney using the music of Wendy Carlos. You'll have to look elsewhere to see why THAT was an issue.

Buy it and enjoy it. ; )
