Movie Reviews of TrickMovie Review: I GAVE THE MOVIE AWAY THIS SUMMER & THE PERSON DID NOT RETURN IT Summary: 5 Stars
I lent out the movie that I had taped off the TV(and that rat at the hotel front desk on Fire Island never returned it)... BUT now I get to buy the DVD....why is it SOOOOO expensive?......I love this movie on so many levels..a gay movie that is not about TRAGEDY ETC.....a simple,SEXY love story with that Pitoc body that I never get tired of watching, a great screenplay(I have watched this movie over 25 times)...there in NO SEX in the whole movie, just a couple of kisses & that proves a good movie can be made without smut....and it ALL takes place in MY neighborhood.......and the last scene, where he walks across 7th Avenue & you see the Twin Towers, always brings tears to my eyes.... cause I remember that exact picture in my head on a summer morning coming home from a club or whatever. We need someone out there to make more great gay movies like this! GREAT>>>GREAT>>>GREAT GAY MOVIE>>RENT IT
Movie Review: "Trick" treats guy meets guy relationship as it should be! Summary: 5 Stars
It is suprisingly nice to see that Hollywood can make a movie that treats same sex relationships as normal and no different than any other. Initially, two young guys, one a musician the other a stripper, are attracted to each other for the same thing everyone desires in a one night stand. The story is their inability to find a place where they can be alone. They search all night through the early morning unsuccessfully, only to find that maybe there is more than just that one night in their interest with each other. Thankfully, this is not your typical main stream movie portraying gay stereotypes. It deals with human values and emotion. It is warm hearted and comical as if you are gay, you will laugh at yourself. If you liked "Beautiful Thing" and "The Sum of Us", you will like this movie. Put this one in your library!
Movie Review: TRICK Summary: 5 Stars
As a Gay Man, I was expecting the usual "farce" of a gay "COMEDY" that seems to be the rule for all movies these days that deal with a one-on-one man-to-man relationship...Imagine my SURPRISE when I first saw TRICK on my DSS system! This movie not only portrays the FACT that MOST gay relationships are far more spiritual than just sexual, but also demonstrates that we ,as gay men, are more than just out for "One Night Stands"..indeed we need, want, and seek Love, devotion, and commitment every bit as much as our straight counterparts. To demonstrate how much I enjoyed this movie,..Let me say this...Because it is currently only available for purchase on DVD ...I went out and bought, not only the movie on DVD, but also a DVD player to watch it on! That should speak VOLUMES about this movie, its cast and its director!
Movie Review: It BUUUUUUUUURNS! CoCo Peru Fan!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this movie - it is on the top of my list with "Beautiful Thing" as my favorite gay romance movies. It is hilarious with wonderful performances and harks back to the old romantic comedies of the past. Gays and lesbians don't have those 30's and 40's romantic comedy movies so it is wonderful when someone makes one. The leads are very good (as everyone here has mentioned) and Tori spelling is hilarious (the cheese fries speech alone deserves an award)but the best part of the movie is Miss CoCo Peru's scene. It is sooo hyserical I often put this movie on and just watch that scene to crack up and my friends and I quote it all the time. "It's big, It's beautiful and you're gonna love it" She should have her own movie! By the end of this movie when the music swells my heart does too. Full of romance and possibility. I love this movie.
Movie Review: Trick (1999) Summary: 5 Stars
Trick is not the first gay themed movie I saw, but it's probably the first romance where there is an happily ever after, or at least an happily for now. The two young boys are gay and, even with some trouble, happy. The main problem is to find a place to make out, since both of them don't have a place of their own. They are young and penniless. They are cute and tender. Even the go-go boy Mark has still an innocence on him, the innocence of being young.
On a side note, Trick was one of the first gay themed movie to arrive on Italian theatre screen, I went on a real theatre to see it, even if it was an essay theatre. It was also one of the first time I heard about the Sundance Film Festival, and after the little jewel that was Trick, I searched for more movie from that Festival, another good one was Secretary with James Spader.
