Movie Reviews of TrickMovie Review: This is my new favorite movie! Summary: 5 Stars
Let me add my positive review to the many which have already been posted here. This movie was put together so well on so many different levels... some of the nuances you catch only after seeing it two or three times. Christian Campbell almost perfectly captures the subtleties of being interested, but shy. He knows what he wants, but he's hesitant on how to go about getting it. Frankly, I think he just nailed the part. Tori Spelling blew me away with her performance as an aspiring actres who is long on ambition, yet sadly short on talent. Her manic "cheese fries" breakdown scene in the all-night diner is destined to be talked about in indie movie circles for awhile! The supporting cast in this movie was outstanding, and the leads were all up to the task. "Trick" doesn't beat you over the head with gay themes, just the story of two PEOPLE who think there might be a connection between them. By the time the movie is drawing to its close, and Mark and Gabe finally get to share a kiss, you are just wanting to cheer for them. It's one of the most tender and sweet moments of longing and romance I've ever seen in any movie. Do yourself a favor and see "Trick." :)
Movie Review: what a movie Summary: 5 Stars
This is little too much that people say a word, Gay, on this movie. Yeah, well, this movie is about two gay boys meeting on night at subway and tripped to gay community just to get off for one night sex. But, it has much more charming attractions such as witty scripts and sweet but very realistic love story and excellent acting by Christian Campbell, Jp pitoc and Tori spelling, and good music too (did I say good music? Ever romantic piano and musical tunes that I've heard) that can not be overlooked simply because of gay nature and I guarantee that this movie will make you feel good whatever your sexualities are after watching.Personally, I loved this movie very much. I rented and watched more than 10 times a week and reluctantly returned it to video shop . ..and finally, I bought three of these movies and give as a present to my brother and a best friend of mine who always forced me to watch straight people's love story, for example, wedding singer or never been kissed, making me all the time squirming. One of the best movies. Don't buy it. First rent it watch with your girl or boy friend and then decide it. You'll love this one.
Movie Review: Quite a Surprise !! Summary: 5 Stars
TRICK is a delicious, delightful farce-romantic comedy that came out of nowhere to be a film to be cherished. The trick, here, are the extraordinary performances of John Paul Pitoc and Christian Campbell who play two gay young men who meet with lust on their minds...and whose characters grow into warm and sensitive ones. TRICK carries the unique ability of creating a fine love story without the usual angst of gay love stories. Campbell has a winning personality and a gift for comedy, and PITOC gives a career boosting performance. Pitoc has the rare acting skill of being able to say nothing...and still conveying the growth of a character. He is a find!! The supporting cast is likewise excellent. The story revolves around two young men whose meeting leads to a series of zany and bizarre events that prevent any chance of their being alone. Tori Spelling is surprisingly good as Campbell's ditsy, no-talent off-off Broadway actress-singer friend. TRICK is a welcome breath of romantic comedy.... and its charm will be felt by everyone regardless of sexual preferences. Out of the blue comes TRICK...and don't miss it !
Movie Review: A Major Surprise !!! Summary: 5 Stars
TRICK is a bolt out of the blue -- a delicious farce-comedy that deals pleasantly and very romantically with two young men who meet with lust on their minds and whose relationship develops into warmth and charm in the course of a muddled and harried night. The "trick" here is the truly superb work of John Paul Pitoc and Christian Campbell, and the zany off-beat casting for Tori Spelling as Campbell's ditsy, no-talent, off-off Broadway actress-singer friend. Pitoc has the kind of charisma that should propel him into important roles. He has the unique ability of not saying a word and conveying the growth in the character. His skills as a comic performer are evident as are his abilities at sensitivity. The goofball comedy follows these two men as they try -- with no success at all - to find a place where they can be alone. Yes, some of the moments, involving Campbell's odd assortments of friends that almost reach straining points. But TRICK snaps back, and you are apt to leave it smiling -- no matter what your sexual preference. It is a surprising delight from literally out of nowhere.
Movie Review: Sexy, sweet and charming! Summary: 5 Stars
I hadn't heard about this flick until I stumbled across the official website last month. And from all the reviews I could browse for, I thought - okay, I couldn't wait for it to be released much later in the UK. So I got it off amazon.com, and however agonizing it was for me to wait 12 days for it to be delivered to my doorstep, it really paid off. I don't remember how many times I watched it since then. This is one of those witty, romantic comedies that leads you sighing and feeling good at the end of the movie. You've got Gabriel (Christian Campbell) and Mark (JP Pitoc) to pull off that chemistry between them - impressive performance! And also Tori Spelling who reveals her talents as Katherine, Gabe's best friend. All three of them makes this simple movie an idealistic fairy tale. The other characters who were acted out well too had me in stitches. The central key here, Gabriel's love life, is believable, and because of this, it strikes a truer chord as what we would normally get in rare good romantic comedies. Finally, Trick is a gem and would be a perfect romantic 'date' movie.
