Movie Review: Must See! Even if you are not gay!
Summary: 5 Stars

How often have I been disappointed by gay-themed films? Countless. They are often too stereo-typed, too sexual consious, too racial conscious, or simply just damn.
Then, TRICK came out and my friends and I were so entertained! The story is about two young gay boys, one is a hot go-go dancer (Mark) and the other is a wanna-be-a-musical writer (Gabriel), meeting up, and spending a night together in NYC. Though the first intention of both of them was just getting off as a one night stand, things did not go well as they planned when much drama started happening around them...
The movie is so sweet and, the best thing is, NOT unrealistic. What these two gay boys experience over night are happening to many gay youth (though surely in different levels and situations). I believe most of gay guys can feel Gabriel's excitement about the chance of having a go-go over his place, and those good looking ones can relate Mark's twisted feeling about being always seen as a sex object and his overly sexual attitude to fight against it. And even non-gay can agree with the story and the character's feelings to a great extent (according to my straight friends). Boys or girls, gay or straight, this film definetly will bring you a warm heart feeling and smile. If you cannot enojoy this film, you need to admit that you are somewhat too jaded!!

Movie Review: Wonderful, magical!
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved this movie. I LOVED this movie. It is perhaps the sweetest, most charming gay film ever. Strike that. It is perhaps the sweetest, most charming FILM ever. At one point, I thought some of the supporting characters (other than the two leads) were a little too campy, but in the end, even that works for this film by making the main characters seem even more real. While everyone talks about how hunky Jean Paul Pitoc is, and with good reason, I think Christian Campbell is the cutest thing in pants I've ever seen -- you just want to get him in the back seat of your car and shower him with kisses. I loved the way the song, "Enter You" is used in the movie. Early on, Gabriel (Campbell), an aspiring songwriter, presents it at a workshop, as sung by his friend Katherine (Tori Spelling). You can tell the song is catchy and has a lot of potential, but it doesn't go over so well at the workshop. Gabriel hasn't figured out all the lyrics, so Katherine has to sing "la la la" where the words are missing. At the end of the film (a wonderful scene), Gabriel is walking down the street, and he starts singing the song to himself. Suddenly, he comes up with the missing lyrics! The ending is so magical, I've watched it over and over. A movie to fall in love with, especially if you're gay, and even if you're not!

Movie Review: No trick here, but lots of treats
Summary: 5 Stars

In the splendidly delightful film "Trick", two young gentlemen succumb to the forces of nature and try to find a place to engage in their lusty mating rituals, only to discover that gold lies underneath the nice wrapping paper. I purchased "Trick" on DVD without viewing it in a theater first, a rare thing indeed, and pleasantly surprised I was. The two leads, Christian Campbell and JP Pitoc, pull off tremendous acting performances by underplaying their parts perfectly. This film could have easily been the usual gay campy fodder, but it manages to walk the line in remaining true to gay life in the 90's and avoiding the stereotypes that plague gay-themed films. Oh sure there is your standard drag queen and older flaming lounge-singer, but they break out of their two-dimensional molds and shine as complex characters. At times, the film is uneven, but you can overlook that when you begin to fall in love with the tale. Even Tori Spelling's performance, as an over-the-top, talentless Broadway actress fits in the groove of the film. Overall, the film's endearing message encourages us to look past the glitz and the glamour of the gay subculture to find the true person inside. I highly recommend "Trick" for your viewing pleasure.

Movie Review: AN ALL AROUND GOOD MOVIE
Summary: 5 Stars

i cannot see how anyone could dislike this movie. i say this because it seems so realistic, almost. i really think that it shows the gay lifestyle in a positive spotlight but a realistic one as well. because in reality there are the hook-ups that happen by just a glance and having just met the person. yes gay men frequent clubs and dance the night away. why try to hide it because everyone knows that it is there. but it also showed that these gay guys are just like anyone else trying to make it in the world. and just like everyone else they are looking for love and a relationship. the whole movies centers around gabriel and mark looking for a place to have sex. but everytime they think they can something happens. so throughout the whole night they go on an adventure with each because there was an instant attraction and needs that needed to be fulfilled. throughout the cousre of the night they find out more about each other and then it turns into something more than a physical attraction. i think that they start to connect on a whole other level. i think that this movie is a little inspiring because it is so positive. i dont find anything negative to say about it. the movie was really fun for me. i suggest it for watching anytime.

Movie Review: A GREAT "AGENDALESS FILM"
Summary: 5 Stars

What I loved most about this film is it's lack of "message" or agenda. Other then telling a great story this film had nothing to "prove". There were no tearfelt speeches for aids victims, no angst about the pain of coming out, just great characters engaged in a funny offbeat script (with dialouge as good as any by Neal Simon) that works. There are many complicated plot elements that all come together nicely and that's not easy to do. The way the writer ties the lead characters struggle to finish his song with the rest of the plot is brilliant. I also differ with the criticism of a previous writer who claimed the two characters had no chemistry and would never be together in "reality". One could see from J.P. Pitoks admirable performance that the character was more then just a beefcake. In fact i thought they made a really cute realistic couple not in spite of but BECAUSE of their differences. The ending scene of them walking down the street said it all.....Gabriel couldn't shut up, and Mark couldn't speak. But laughed in the right places. A great film. The fact that no "message" is needed shows that the gay community might be beginning to feel more accepted.
