Movie Reviews of Treasure PlanetMovie Review: One of the best animated movies ever ! Summary: 5 Stars
Treasure Planet is an instant classic !. I am a 35 year old video game designer and found the movie a delightful experience. The integration of 3D graphics and cell animation was by far the best to date. Easily surpassing the stroboscopic " Titan AE ". The movies art style and visual design was incredibly stimulating, and the "extra" content on the DVD gives a great insight as to the conceptual design process. I really cant recommend the movie highly enough, just go out and get it, you wont be disappointed, and will want to watch it over and over again.
Movie Review: An Instant Classic Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this one the first time I saw it and my youngest son and I can watch this every day and not grow tired of it!
I love the sci-fi twist of tresure island! I recall reading the original book and though this is rather loosely based on it and one can pick up elements here and there, Tresure Island is so nicely sci-fi that it really is it's own tale.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a teriffic job as young Jim. Emma Thompson and David Hyde Pierce also do so very well as sparring partners and then as more by the end of the film. Very, very good!
Movie Review: deserves to be a cult classic Summary: 5 Stars
This is a beautiful, well crafted movie, and I am so glad I picked it up on a whim. The TV ads never really captured how lovely (and fun!) the movie was--and so I missed out on a real cinematic treat. Now I consider it an essential part of my DVD collection, right up there with Lord of the Rings. Similar to Peter Jackson's work, repeated viewings only increased my admiration for the care and skill that went into making it. The commentary is very informative and I loved seeing a little bit of the process involved in producing an animated film. Have fun with this one!
Movie Review: Wonderful! Summary: 5 Stars
This is yet another example of a really great movie that got totally shafted at the box office. It was only in my local theatre for a short time (because of all the other big hyped up movies coming out at that time), but I saw it twice and it is, in my opinion, one of the best things Disney has come out with in the past 5-10 years. Lilo and Stitch was entertaining, I'll give it that, but Treasure Planet was far better. Apparently a disfunctional child and a space koala just don't have the brilliant witty repartee of a cat woman in a space age captain's uniform.
Movie Review: awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't even know what this movie was about until I was in the theatre, but from the moment that I saw the trailer on TV and on the net, I knew that I had to see this movie. The music is sweet, the animation is awesome, and not only did I enjoy the story, but there was humor! I was drawn into the story, and thouroughly enjoyed this flick. The concept of sailing ships in outer space was just breathtaking, and Disney did a superb job with this movie. I just hope the DVD release will have some sweet extras!
