Movie Reviews of Treasure PlanetMovie Review: You're Missing the Point Summary: 5 Stars
Look--for those of you who want to know, this movie is great. And do you want to know why? Here it is:
Great Drama.
Great Characterization.
Great Story.
All the things that people have complaints about--especially the neo-retro combination--don't matter, because it's all serving the great character relationships and drama that's going on. Every scene in there that has the great acting and animation that has always been the basis of Disney.
If you can't enjoy the scenes between the Captain, Doppler, Arrow, Scroop, Ben, Silver, and Jim, I don't know WHAT you're doing watching movies.
Look--don't put a big X over this on your list of movies to watch in the future.
Whatever flaws it may have, they are MORE than balanced out by the great storytelling and direction of those Disney standbys John Musker and Ron Clements.
If you want a solid, wonderful movie, try this. You won't be disappointed.
Movie Review: Walt Would Be Proud! Summary: 5 Stars
Walt Disney was fascinated with the story of Treasure Planet and had actually opted to do it as the first full length animated film. He then realized it didn't need to be animated and did Snow White. He kept thinking about a way to do Treasure Island as an animated movie and eventually made it as the studios first live action film. Now, the Disney team has come up with a brilliant way to do it as an animated film. They set it in space and it is my favorite film version of Treasure Island. I know it did horribly at the theaters, but so did Cinderella and look at how well known that is. You will love Treasure Planet if you liked the book or the live action version. The best part would have to be B.E.N, a crazy robot on Treasure Planet who is clearly missing a few pieces and is voiced by Martin Short. Plus the ending was so cool and original! Definately not the typical cute musicle Disney is known for doing in the past.
Movie Review: be afraid lilo and stitch...be VERY afraid. Summary: 5 Stars
this movie is good. SO good,u will want to watch it over and over again, like i do. once i pop the dvd into my dvd player, there is no stopping me from wanting to watch it again....the movie has some REALLY cool characters in it.in fact some of them are SO DANG CUTE that u will be wishing that u could just pull them out of the screen and give them a hug.i feel that way about dr doppler,my favorite character. however, this movie may be scary to kids younger than 8 years old because some of the pirate characters are kinda freaky looking (notably srcoop) and there are 5 pretty intense action scenes (1:the scene where pirates burn down the benbow inn 2:the supernova 3:the pirates taking over the ship 4:the scene where scroop is chasing jim 5:the scene where treasure planet is fixing to explode) see this movie if u r looking for something better than lilo and stitch. :D
Movie Review: it's a shame... Summary: 5 Stars
I saw the box office reports on this movie. It's depressing to know that this was a flop. Sure, Jim Hawkins isn't a guy in red-and-blue swinging through New York City. He doesn't bear the much sought after "Ring of Power." He's not a wizard-in-training (thank goodness). No, instead Disney has created a down-to-earth teen with many family problems and other issues (I wonder how many teens today can relate to this). This is top-notch story-telling! I wanted to see the movie because of John Rzeznik's "Im Still Here," and my desire to see it increased after a friend of mine was talking about it. So that night I saw it, only to find myself blown away by how well Disney made this movie that I started telling everyone about it. This is Disney's best movie in a long, long, long time (since probably Lion King)!!! If you missed your chance to see it on the screen, wait til it hits video and DVD!
Movie Review: Treasure Planet does indeed do the classic justice. Summary: 5 Stars
I was one of those people who, when I heard that Disney was making a movie on Treasure Island "in space", I nearly had a fit. Treasure Island has been one of my favorite books since I first read it in the 5th grade.... I won't give away what happens on Treasure Planet. Go see the movie to find out for yourself.
This movie blew me away. I had the luck to be near to an IMAX and was able to see it there. Disney did a superb job, giving the classic an even more interesting view.
To all those who have read Treasure Island and are uneasy about seeing the film, I highly suggest you go. I can't guarantee you'd like it, but I can guarantee this: Disney, for once, did a good, solid story. The relationship between Jim Hawkins and John Silver is very believeble. This Treasure Island fan wasn't the slightest bit dissappointed, and I hope you won't be either.
