Movie Reviews of Treasure Planet

Movie Review: Fantastic Visuals
Summary: 5 Stars

I'd like to get this out of the way in the beginning: I have not read the book or seen any other adaptation of Treasure Island. That's fine for me because I can't compare it to an earlier impression and then be disapointed by that comparison. That being said, I shall get on with my review.

I was expecting absolutely nothing great when I first watched this movie, but then the movie took off in the direction of greatness. The visuals were second to none, the voice-acting was great, and the plot and characters all hit their marks properly.

This movie bombards you with great designs. From the incredible designs of the captain, to the various space ships, you are constantly in awe at the creativity of the creators.

The characters all carried an emotional weight to them (the exception of course being the incredibly irritating CGI character B.E.N.) and delivered their lines in the most optimal way possible.

If you appreciate good visual design, you absolutely have to see this movie.

If you're just looking for something to watch, you could be doing a helluva lot worse than this.

Movie Review: A Wonderful Family Values Adventure
Summary: 5 Stars

The same way "Fantsia" was unappreciated in it's initial release, "Treasure Planet" has so much happening it's not surprising it opened to mixed response: it will take repeated viewings and some time for it to sink in, it's that good....

Opening to low box office, many were quick to lable it a bomb or dud, but far from that, this is a great film that will be around for years.

Incredible animation in an assortment of forms, (ie: simple, computer, saturday morning, anime, straight Disney, and combinations) it's as good as it gets.....I loved the Captain, an english woman with a lot of pluck, and a variety of supporting characters that are all blended in nicely to tell the story of a space age "Treasure Island"

There are many of the regular Disney touches, a very nice song, (only one, and that's fine) and a return to Parent and Child love and respect often missing these days...

I say, open your mind and allow it to wash over you, don't start with preconcieved notions, and you will leave the theater with a good feeling, a moist eye and the knowledge that you will have to see it again to see everything...

Movie Review: Am I gushing about this movie? You bet I am!
Summary: 5 Stars

Young Jim Hawkins (voice by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) grew up reading about pirates, and dreaming of finding the fabulous lost treasure of Captain Flint, the greatest pirate ever. When a dying sailor gives Jim a special "map", Jim and family friend Doctor Doppler (David Hyde Pierce) set off to find it. But, the crew of their ship looks more than a little bit untrustworthy, and none of them more so than the cook, John Silver (Brian Murray). Sailing through mind-blowing dangers, Jim encounters more adventures than he could ever have imagined, and finds a treasure more valuable than gold.

I must admit that I did not see this movie in the theatre; I was that sure that it was going to be a bad movie. Well, I am kicking myself now! This movie is great! The combination of eighteenth century pirates and technology was handled masterfully, and it produces an exciting and visually breathtaking movie! Am I gushing about this movie? You bet I am! This is a great movie that you and your children will all love. (My kids thought that Morph was the best part of the whole movie.) Get it!

Movie Review: Amazing!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great movie. The animated version of Treasure Island that takes place in space. This movie is about a 15 year old teen, Jim Hawkins. He is constantly getting into trouble with the police and if he does it one more time, he'll be sent to the juevnile hall. His father left his family when he was young and his mother is busy running the Benbow Inn. When a ship crashes a few feet away from the inn, an old alien stagers iut and gives Jim a mysterious map. The map leads to Treasure Planet, so Jim and his mother's friend, Dr. Doppler, hir a crew and a ship to take them to Treasure Planet.

I love the way the characters are drwan in the movie. The villain, Scroop (I didn't count Silver as a true villain) is so cool. The way his voice sounds in a hiss. he kind of reminds me of Scar. Scroop hates Jim and Mr. Arrow, who he kills when the Star Pellusa turns into a black hole, and the affection Silver has for Jim. Jim Hawkins is also a great character. He looks like a typical teen.

If you're looking for a great movie, get Treasure Planet!

Movie Review: A Sci-Fi Futuristic Take On a Classic Story.
Summary: 5 Stars

Treasure Planet is a Disney animated film based on another Disney classic, Treasure Island-but with a Science Fiction twist. The story centers around Jim Hawkins(Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a young adventurer, who is told the story of a space pirate's fortune located in a far-away planet. At the insistance of his Mom(Laurie Metcalf), Hawkins journeyed to the planet on the Space boat R.L.S. Legacy(a nod to Robert Louis Stevenson)with his guardian Dr. Delbert Doppler(David Hyde Pierce) and the ship's Captain, Amelia(Emma Thompson). Along the way, the crew are confronted by a hearty alien buccaneer named John Silver, who reluctantly joins the crew as they fight off rival pirates and avoid intergalatic dangers in order to find the Treasure Planet and its riches. The special features includes a classic trailer for Disney's Treasure Island and a behind-the-scenes look the the film. Treasure Planet is destined to become one of the great Disney animated classics for years to come.
