Movie Reviews of Treasure Planet

Movie Review: The movie Titan A. E. wanted to be...
Summary: 5 Stars

The moment I saw the preview for this at the June release of Lilo and Stitch I was completely smitten. I finally read Treasure Island over this summer, and found out how much I had missed before I became a teen! This was a faithful (if somewhat unorthodox) adaptation of the classic by Robert Louis Stevenson. Fans of the Final Fantasy game series (forget the movie; THAT should be thrown off the face of the earth) will like the "flying ships" and Jim Hawkins, the main character, who is vaguely reminiscent of Squall from Final Fantasy 8. The animation is spectacular, and Long John Silver's Swiss Army Knife cyborg "appendages" are pretty neat. The music is perfect: James Newton Howard, as usual, does a wonderful job with his adventure themes that remind us of the early 90's movie Shipwrecked and such high seas adventure. Johnny Rzeznik, of the Goo Goo Dolls, wrote two songs for the movie; "I'm Still Here" and "Always Know Where You Are" (the latter performed by BBMak). They give a feeling of the teen in Hawkins and accentuate Howard's score perfectly. For the parents out there looking for some moral redemptive factor in this movie: Treasure Planet brings out the pain of having a broken family, and viewers will be touched by the bond that forms between Hawkins and Silver. Some of the aliens are a little bit scary, and there's a few explosions, etc., but it's generally a kid-safe film. Overall, this movie was a classic adventure movie, perfect for young and old alike, and one that I will watch more than a few times. Way to go Disney!

Movie Review: Treasure Planet is sure to be a hit!
Summary: 5 Stars

Treasure Planet is the latest animated feature film from Walt Disney. It is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island", but is set way on the future.

The story is about fifteen-year-old Jim Hawkins, who comes across a map to the greatest pirate trove in the universe. The tale follows Jim's fantastic journey across a parallel universe as a cabin boy aboard a glittering space galleon. Befriended by the ship's charismatic cyborg (part man, cook John Silver, Jim blossoms under his guidance, and shows the makings of a fine spacer as he and the alien crew battle supernovas, black holes and ferocious space storms. But even greater dangers lie ahead when Jim discovers that his trusted friend Sliver is actually a scheming pirate with mutiny in mind.

Although it does look a lot like "Atlantis - The Lost Empire", Treasure Planet is much different than it, because I feel that Atlantis was way too complicated for children to understand the concept and the storyline of the movie, whereas Treasure Planet is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, a famous classic with a simple storyline. With amazing special effects and cgi technology, this movie is sure to put the audience in awe. The voices provided for this movie are from some famous celebrities like Roscoe Lee Browne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and David Hyde Pierce which itself is worth watching for.

All in all, I think Treasure Planet will become a sure hit because of all the reasons above. A must watch!!

Movie Review: One of Disney's Greatest!
Summary: 5 Stars

I dragged my friends to see Treasure Planet with me the day it came out, because I love anything that has to do with pirates and had been anticipating the realease of Treasure Planet since I saw the first previews (plus, we were on Thanksgiving break, and my friends had nothing else to do). All three of us fourteen-year-old girls loved it to death! We left the theater, raving about how good it was.
The animation, a combination of traditional drawn animation and computer effects, was awesome. The music was beautiful, both the score and the two songs that were sung. The story, based closely on Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, was intriguing. I could relate to Jim Hawkins's teenage rebel attitude. Captain Amelia, too, was extremely likeable, and a strong female character. B.E.N., the Bio-Electronic Navigator robot, got on my nerves after a while, but he was the movie's only flaw. Also included in the cast of characters is an adorable, pink, shapeshifting blob called "Morph."
There was humor, action, and emotional scenes aplenty. One scene, where Morph turns into a hand in order to poke a bad guy in the eye, made me shriek with laughter, when just minutes before an especially heart-rending scene left me on the verge of tears.
All in all, an excellent family film for all ages. Treasure Planet has won a special place in my heart among other disney favorites, right next to Beauty and the Beast and Tuck Everlasting.

Movie Review: yeah!
Summary: 5 Stars

i love this movie

it is so dang cool

i got this dvd in late apirl and have been
watching it over and over and over again ever since

here is my review of it:

the movie is about jim hawkins,a boy who gets a little ball
thingie from a dying ailen.he finds out that it is a treasure map.he and his friend Dr doppler (whom you cannot help adoring)
go to look for the treasure. doppler hires a ship called the rls
legacy (it's a cool ship,i'm telling ya)and he and jim meet the captain (ok,here is somthing kinda odd:doppler is a dog, i think
and the captain is a cat.however,it is only in an early scene where they don't seem to be getting along.go figure).jim meets long john silver, the ship's cook, who is half man and half robot.
jim wuz given a warning about this dude, but he doesn't think that
silver is really a bad guy.he finds out later that silver was just pretending to like him, then he knows that silver WAS the bad
guy he had been warned about!the ship lands on treasure planet,
and jim meets b.e.n.,a goofy 100-year-old robot who helps him get
the map back from the pirates.jim and the others finally find the
treasure, but a trap has been set so that nobody could get to the
treasure, and jim and his friends escape.

see this movie.you'll be glad u did.

Movie Review: Much better then the summers Disney flick.
Summary: 5 Stars

The #1 movie of the season if not the year. It never stops amazing me how much better Disney animation is compared to even the most hyped movies each year. This is what happens when you spend 4 years working on a film. PURE QUALITY! Unlike the joke that was Lilo and Stich. (The first animated Disney flick I hated in the last 10 years by the way.)
Hot off the heals of the awesome Atlantis, this movie felt like a 19th century fantasy novel, instead of something written today. (Much the same as Atlantis felt it was written in the early 20th century.) It's so refreshing to see a fantasy that doesn't let facts bog it down and is free to 'chart it's own course.' Excellent Retro Sceince fiction. I really feel sorry for anyone who can't see, or accept this.

Adam Sandler doesn't stand a chance against a classic like this. I've seen it 2 times already and it get's better each time! But I wonder why they did this, when only 5/4 years ealier they produced a Muppet version? Oh well.

This has to be one of the longest, most story based Animated films Disney has produced recently, if ever. I wouldn't expect less from the people that brought us Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Hercules.
