Movie Reviews of TrappedMovie Review: Undisclosed Location... Summary: 4 Stars
Kevin Bacon (Death Sentence) is one of my favorite horror / thriller / suspense actors. Whether playing the victim (Friday The 13th), the hero (Tremors, Stir Of Echoes), or the bad guy (The River Wild, Wild Things, Hollow Man), Bacon is superb. In TRAPPED, he gets another chance to be the bad guy as Joe, the cruel leader of a trio of nefarious kidnappers, along w/ Courtney Love and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Jacob's Ladder, Captivity). Charlize Theron (Monster), Stuart Townsend, and Dakota Fanning (War Of The Worlds) play the targeted family. The first two thirds of the movie are tense and believable, while the last act veers hopelessly off into fantasy / action-land, complete w/ car chases, explosions, and aerobatics! Still, TRAPPED is fun to watch, Ms. Theron is hot enough to melt lead, and the Bacon-factor is high...
Movie Review: Suspense thriller... Summary: 4 Stars
Trapped, while not the best example of acting by Kevin Bacon, it proves to be the opposite for Charlize Theron. A kidnapping for ransom that has a bit more going on. Once again I am very impressed with young actress Dakota Fanning. There are some suspenseful and clever moments and a few ridiculous ones. But the emotion is what does it for me.
A not so typical family responding to a terribe situation in a less than typical way. They don't just take it even though the circumstances require their submission to the events taking place. Sure, there's a happy ending, and I like those, but for a while you're not really sure if that's how it's going to work out. Some mystery. Some time to wonder and worry. I like that too.
Movie Review: Watch it! Summary: 4 Stars
Okay, If you are confused by all these reviews, I'll tell you this: you can find this movie absolutely fantastic or just have a good time with it. For me, it was the second option. It is a well-aimed Friday night thriller which manages to keep you on your seat until the end. However, It's very predictable, but the performances are very effective, mainly Theron's and Love's.. Courtney Love succeded with her role but Kevin Bacon was kind of annoying at times. Overall I'd say it was a very entertaining movie, not something I would watch twice, but it deserves some more attention, as it is far better than many of those extremely commercial thrillers out there.
Movie Review: better than they are saying Summary: 4 Stars
I love Kevin as an actor now and what he is doing in roles in movies now. I despised footloose and that candy coated [stuff]people liked that started his carrier. Liked him ever since he started playing darker roles, I love his acting now. My only complaint was Courtney Love could have played a way better role than what she did. She is good with strong female roles, this one she is the weak-beat-up / domestic violence victim. It really doesn't fit her, especially considering how much she likes to fight with people. She did better in Larry Flint. Anyway, to Kevin: stick with these types of movies: Trapped, Stir of Echoes, murder in the first, tremors, hollow man!!
Movie Review: Psychological thriller - DVD special features worthwhile Summary: 4 Stars
Trapped is a good psychological thriller. Kevin Bacon is a great bad guy and Charlize Theron does a fabulous job as the mother whose child has been kidnapped. I read the book (24) about a year ago, and while I didn't like the film as much as the book, it was certainly worth watching. I didn't think the tension was as high, nor did I find the film as scary as the book was. The DVD has a writer's commentary, as well as a director's commentary. Greg Iles wrote both the book and the screenplay and it was very interesting listening to his comments on the film. Highly recommended if you are interested in writing or filmmaking.
