Movie Reviews of Transporter 2Movie Review: brilliant Summary: 5 Stars
See people don't make action movies like this any more. Everyone seems to think that what will make their mediocre hollywood nonsense better is a few lengthy scenes of bad character acting and some blatant, ungraceful plot exposition (see "The Italian Job"). Transporter 2 however is up there with T2, Face Off, and Robocop in my opinion. Not at the top of the genre, but in the upper echelon. The key is that while the first Transporter undermined itself by trying to be a "good" movie, this incomparably better sequel pulls out all the stops and stampedes shamelessly across the screen with little to no regard for the usual standards of "reality" or "depth". It lost its pace a bit towards the end, but that is forgivable. They essentially removed everything that made the first one so hard to watch, ie the awkward attempts at bringing well-developed characters into a movie that had no place for them. Hilarious stunts, ridiculous cheesy little Spielberg-esque asides (the drunk in the alley), horrible one-liners.. they admitted they were making nothing more than an action movie and had the guts to take it all the way for what it was. This movie is pure style, from the garish Miami color to the self-indulgent breakbeat soundtrack, to the completely infeasible stunts, and that is why it's so hugely enjoyable. Even the necessary "character" scenes seem to have a slight ironic bent to them, as if the filmmakers knew that their audience would get restless during the brief respite between that last explosion and the car chase coming up.
"Shameless" is the word that best describes this movie i think, and i mean it in the best possible way. I am so glad that some idiot didn't pipe up and say "I don't know guys, it's not very likely that the hook would actually snag the bomb". Hollywood is constantly plagued by trash movies, and 90% of the time the problem is that they attempt to be more than what they are. Luckily people seem to be realizing that even a terribly shallow movie like Transporter 2 can be just as fun as a Scorcese film if its approached without inhibition. Action movies are about living vicariously, who wants to live vicariously through reality??? Sin City, Kill Bill, V for Vendetta, even the first half of Aeon Flux all nailed it because they were about simply going all the way with what they were. Transporter 2 is a perfect example of pushing a stereotypically worthless genre to the point of quality through simple unabashed madness. I very much hope they decide to secure this movie in the action pantheon by making it a trilogy.
Movie Review: The Transporter comes to Miami !!! Summary: 5 Stars
Jason Statham is back as Frank Martin, better known as The Transporter. In this case, he temporarily covers for a friend and chauffeurs around Mr. Billings (Matthew Modine), whose a highly-touted government official and his family. Amber Valletta plays Audrey Billings, the wife of Mr. Billings. After being separated for aboout a year, Audrey and Mr. Billings decide to give it one more try. But Audrey seems to have it in for Frank more than she does for her husband. Note, Mr. Billings and Audrey have a young son (Jack). Frank chauffeurs Jack back and forth to school. He tells Audrey that if she ever needs anything, she can count on him. With that being said, Audrey shows up at Frank's residence a little tipsy (drunk). She tells Frank "I've decided to take you up on your earlier offer". However, Frank foolishly rejects her advances. In my book, Amber Valletta is as sexy as they come and I don't know how any man could reject her advances. LOL. So anyway, back to the movie.
Frank is now responsible for taking Jack to school. One day he is set-up and ends up losing the son to some kidnappers. After capturing Jack, the kidnappers attempt to kill off Frank, making it look like he is in on the kidnapping.
But Frank is very elusive. Watch and see the outcome of this movie. Excellent fight scenes make this a terrific movie. Oh I almost forgot about the female assassin. She stands out in this movie. (...) Very sexy.
Movie Review: A really good action thriller Summary: 5 Stars
The transporter has unique hand-to-hand and driving combat skills derived from years in the army's Special Forces and many combat missions. He usually takes dangerous delivery jobs that others are unable or afraid to do. He drives an armored vehicle. However, in this film, he agrees to substitute for a friend who can't drive a youngster from place to place. He and the boy bond. He promises the child that he would make sure that he is never hurt. Very soon he has to use his skills and fulfill his promise when the boy is kidnapped.
The film is filled with action. There are many chases, by speed boat, cars, and foot, among others, including one where he rushes a plane while driving in a car. There are many fights; several where the transporter battles about a dozen armed men while he is unarmed and alone, and a fight with a woman. There is humor in the film, as when the boy's mother, who likes him, says, "I didn't know that you had a friend." He replies, "He's no friend. He's French." This Frenchman plays a part in the movie and adds humor.
The film is filled with suspense. Why is the boy kidnapped? Why is his father so distant from him? Will the relationship between his father and mother be resolved? Can the transporter rescue the boy? Can he save the people who the kidnappers want to hurt? People who enjoy action films will really delight in this one.
Movie Review: Transporter Series is action filled adventure, don't miss it Summary: 5 Stars
We have become die hard fans of Jason Statham movies. The Transporter series being one of his best, we own all three. An English actor, Statham was born in Sydenham, on the south east London, growing up playing football and diving. His first experience with movies came from being cast by Guy Ritchie, British director in a 1998 hit Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and later in the 2000 film Snatch.
In 2005 Statham returns in the role of Frank Martin, a driver that transports cargo without asking questions and under strict rules: Stick to the deal, Don't ask names and Don't look in the package. Statham's martial arts background allows him to perform most of his own stunts and it is simply thrilling to observe him in action.
Transporter 2 brings us a hard driving courier that gets involved in some stunts that are simply amazing. We find Frank retired from transporting questionable packages but still driving, now for a wealthy Miami, Florida family. When the kid is kidnapped, we see Frank at his best as he unravels the plot.
Frank Martin is good at what he does but when he gets involved and his passion is aroused he is a lethal weapon, unstoppable and effective. If you like action packed movies, this is the series to obtain. Don't miss it!
