Movie Reviews of TransGeneration

Movie Review: Great documentary that makes you think...
Summary: 5 Stars

This documentary is an 8 part series about transgendered people. (2 male to female and 2 female to male) All four of them are college students and we see how they live their daily lives, who they hang out with or pair up with, and how they deal with others around them.

Raci is a filipina girl going to Cal State LA and decides that she doesn't want to share her background with anyone just yet. She has a very supportive family and had been dressing like the opposite sex since she was 9 years old. She is basically trying to keep her 3.5 GPA while on a scholarship and meet other people. She starts taking hormones illegally.

TJ is a guy living in Michigan who is originally from Cyprus. After his scholarship is up, he has to go back to Cyprus for two years. His family is not so supportive. He mentions that his mom could easily convince him to be "Tamar" again, because she has that much power over him.

Lucas is a male going to an all female college. He has other transgendered friend who goes to the same college who he has become close to. His mom, though trying her best to accept him, shows how hard it may be for a parent (or parents) to accept that the baby they once had, is now a different gender, though they are the same person inside. We also see his father and he develop a different kind of relationship with many touching moments.

Gaby is a female living in Colorado and going to school there. She is learning to be social in general, because she mentioned that the year before, she was more of a hermit. Through the documentary, we see that she will have the 15,000 dollar sex change operation with very supportive parents and grandparents. She identifies herself as bi or a lesbian, which shows that sexuality and gender are completely different things.

These characters are typical teenagers struggling through the same problems that we all have struggled through, and more. These people are not weird, sick, or strange, with the exception of Gaby, who seems to have some issues. This DVD answers many questions about transgendered people and is highly educational and entertaining. One of the doctors mentioned that there are 10,000 transgendered people in Los Angeles County alone. I recommend this documentary to anyone who has questions about transgenered people, and people who have (or would like to have) a more open mind.

Recommended.

Movie Review: I need an update!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Before I watched this movie, I had no understanding of the FTM and MTF trans-gendered of the world. But now I'm more open minded. I used to think it was just some taking it too far for life. Unfortunately the trans generation of today is being blown out of proportion, as more and more of the younger kids are claiming "I'm trans-gendered" when in actuality they are just doing what they think they should be doing as that's what society has told them they should do. The same for the actual gay community, being gay is in right now, so is being trans-gendered. A lot of the young "femmes" feel that they can date a "FTM" and still be considered str8, where the actuality is that they are still sleeping with a woman as the FTM they are into aren't really gay, but playing a role.

But I would love to get an update at least every 6 months to a year to see how their lives are moving along. Either that or I'd love to met the participants in the documentary.

Movie Review: Great Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

When i first watched this movie, it was heart warming because it shows the inner side of young adults trying to find their way in society as outcasts. It is a bit inspirational to see that despite odds they choose to be themselves in a world that doesnt fully welcome them. I also think that people should be happy in their lives. If people need to change their sex or whatever needs changed, being happy is important in life.

Everyone has only one life to live and we all should make the best of it and be happy. i appricate their efforts in making this movie so public and helps bring transgender issues to the table and hopefully help realize that transgender people are still humans with feelings that need love and care too. I think people find the greastest success in life when they are happy. i hope these four people find success in their lives and i hope others are inspired in them and find success too.

Movie Review: Insight to youth thinking
Summary: 5 Stars

When one follows their body's (mind) calling (F to M or M to F) there is a price to pay. Mentally, friends, jobs, and money. This film gives insight to the problems youth face to change their body to the correct gender. I wanted to do it in 1963 but did not know what was bothering me. After the internet at the age of 73 I completed my change to a transwoman. I hope this film helps our youth to search for help if they are questioning their self.

Movie Review: Autogynephilia?
Summary: 5 Stars

Anybody who thinks this is "autogynephilia" needs to actually meet a transsexual. I'm sincerely sick of this explanation and the idea that Raci and Gabbie in particular should have delved deeper into their sex lives. Why should they? This series was not made for the sexual gratification of people watching it. There are plenty of other shoddy transgender documentaries and films which concentrate on sex, go watch one of those.
