Movie Reviews of Training Day

Movie Review: (;D)
Summary: 5 Stars

The headline summarizes the movie! Denzel gets the Oscar for this one. Forget Russel Crowe and his Beautiful Mind. Ethan was so brilliantly subtle. Denzel u r the best! U made Popoye Doyle look like a wimp!

i'm glad denzel got the oscar for traing day BUT i think he more deserve it for Malcom X

Movie Review: Complete garbage
Summary: 1 Stars

Fooled by Denzel's Academy Award I rented this dismal film. The plot is ridiculous, but worse still the characters are just not credible. Ethan Hawke wants a promotion, and to uphold his lawful values, so much so that he smokes dope and drinks booze within hours of commencing his first shift...he has hardly had time for a proper breakfast, and there he is high on PCP, thanks to Uncle Denzel, whom (for some reason) he still adores. From then on rather than characters there are cliches, including insulting racial stereotypes, nihilistic violence, and repugnantly casual misogyny. An ugly and horrible film. Hollywood has entertained us yet again.

Movie Review: "a wolf or a sheep?"
Summary: 5 Stars

i am going to keep this review short so you can go and see this great movie. this is deffidently the best film of 2001. there story is amazing and it is intense from the first minute to the last second. basically, ethan hawke has always wanted to be a narc and to train, he has to spend a day with the corrupt man denzel washington who breaks the law as much as he enforces it. as the tension builds it is hard to decide whether to support denzel or ethan. honestly, the plot does get hazy when the cops bring up the infomation about denzel washington being in debt to the russian mobsters, but it is easy to pick up on and doesnt stop you from enjoying the film.

besides the great plot and filmaking, this movie is fueled by 2 amazing performances by denzel washington and ethan hawke. they make the movie come to life even in the "far-fetched" moments. do not think twice, go out and rent/buy this movie. training day is deffidently a wolf of a movie.

Movie Review: "Now howl"
Summary: 5 Stars

Denzel Washington (as furious as I am about the oscar loss to Crowe) deserved all the attention he recieved because of this POWERHOUSE of a film. Although, I must point out that the acting was not the only thing this film had going for it. The plot was spot on, the dialog was tight and Fuqua did such a kick@$$ job directing...he deserved an oscar nod there! The film follows Alonzo Harris (Washington) as he trains rookie narcotics officer Jake Hoyt (Hawke in his BEST performance ever). The problem is that Alonzo's methods, while effective in their own ways, are not ethical to say the least, and throughout the 24 hour period Jake is subjected to too much, way too much. One may start to question Alonzo's motives, and rightfully so. As the film starts to boil down we see Alonzo's true charactor, his inner demons. This is by far Washingtons best performance, a true gritty and real performance that left me jaw dropped...although he lacked the perfection that Crowe brought to the table with 'A Beautiful Mind'...alas...There are two scenes that prove Washington deserved his nod...his opening scene in the dinner was the best intro of any charactor in so long, it was spot on perfection. And the scene in the car where he puts the gun to Jake's head and forces him to smoke the weed...he embodies his charactor, mind body and soul. This is one of the most origional pieces of hollywood history I've ever scene and is well worth the 2 hours spent in front of the screen, thanks to a tightly woven plot, breathtaking direction, perfect dialog and yes, Washington!

Movie Review: This movie rocks so much, it ranks right up there with the big cats! And I'm definitely a wolf!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It's all about a cop named Jake who a renegade cop named Alonzo Harris is on the intent to teach about doing the "right thing in a dog eat dog world of crime." It is filled with blood and gore, funny jokes and scenes, lots of memorable quotes, intense shooting & fistfight scenes, and to top it all off packed to the brim with more cursing & obscenity than you can shake a middle finger at. The acting is wonderful, nearly all the characters look cool, & all in all I give this a 9.75 out of 10. If you like fighting movies or police dramas, this film is for you. Period. Given the fact I'm a wolf lover as well as a lion, tiger and jaguar lover, I loved that "You need to be da wolf in dis here city!" by Alfonzo or whatever similar thing he spoke.
