Movie Reviews of Touching Evil: Series 1-3Movie Review: Excellent..... Summary: 5 Stars
I have this series both on VHS and DVD. My VHS tapes were getting worn out, I played them so often. I like all three of these series immensely. I tried to watch the, in my opinion, uninspired remake of episode 1, "The Lost Boys", when American producers tried to remake it, with only one(?) of the original, minor character, cast members. Frankly, the remake wasn't even close to THIS version included in this set. The entire series is tautly scripted, beautifully acted, well-scored, often riveting--depending on the episode. And yes, if you love Robson Green in Wire in the Blood, you should get this. And if you are a Nicola Walker fan from Spooks (Ruth Evershed), you see far more of her AND her talent throughout the Touching Evil series.
Summary of Touching Evil: Series 1-3From Paul Abbott, the much-celebrated author of Reckless and Cracker, comes this contemporary, darkly-edged miniseries starring Robson Green (Reckless, Me & Mrs. Jones) as Detective Inspector Dave Creegan. Follow the exploits of the Organized and Serial Crime Unit (OSC), an FBI-styled rapid-response elite crime squad. Co-stars Nicola Walker (Four Weddings and a Funeral) as Creegan's partner. Then, maverick D.I. Creegan and his partner D.I. Taylor are on the case in three all-new, darkly tinged two-hour dramas. This time out, Creegan, Taylor and the Organized and Serial Crime Unit track a serial kidnapper-murderer whose fatal fascination with young women leaves Creegan with a new scar to bear; a profoundly disturbed relief worker whose nightmares of atrocities committed in Bosnia impel him to erase the memories of fellow aides?permanently; and an international ring of baby brokers. Creegan is back on the job, having recovered from a nervous breakdown. In the first case, he is determined to clear the name of a man he helped convict?a tough task given that the murders began again once the suspected killer got out of jail. Then, a new serial killer terrorizes the city by setting his victims on fire. Will Creegan crack the case before he gets burned? Special DVD features include: bonus arficle "Detectives You Wouldn't Want for Roommates;" selected cast filmographies; selected cast list; link to the Mystery! Web site; scene selections; closed captions; and some described video for the visually impaired. On two DVD9 discs and six DVD5 discs. Region coding: All regions. Audio: Dolby stereo. Screen format: 4 x 3 full frame.
