Movie Reviews of Top Gun [Blu-ray]

Movie Review: I feel the need, the need for ... Blu-ray!
Summary: 5 Stars

Even on DVD: a great movie, cool characters and sensational Soundtrack.

But on Blu-ray its a new level of experiencing this movie! Seeing it on Blu-ray with my PS3 and 46"LCD makes me think: The DVD looks like a 20year old VHS. The colour and sharpness is simply breathtaking. And the sound is powerfull and clear with my 5.1 Surround System. This Blu-ray edition is a great conversion from (analogue) film to digital and shows that even 23 year old material have a lot to give in HD-age! (Watch the uncleanness of Kelly McGillis' skin in some parts :P or the makup )

The Special Features (Commentary,Making Of,Music Videos etc) are in Standard Definition!

If you own the DVD and hesitate buying the Blu-ray Version, i can tell you it's worth the money!

For all international: The Blu-ray is codefree

Product Summary:

Movie Review: Better then ever.
Summary: 5 Stars

Top Gun is an amazing movie plain and simple. I watched it 3 times on VHS in a row the first time I saw it. Its the perfect movie to watch with a girlfriend because it offers enough action and romance to keeps both parties interested. But i'm sure this has all been said before, the real question is "Is it worth it on blue ray?" My awnser, ABSOLUTELY. The movie looks better then ever, the blue's and oranges have been tweaked but it gives the movie a more vibrant modern look. The plains look amazing, and the in cockpit views provide some of the best detail images of any blue-ray movie released. The the visuals and audio experience manages to keep up with todays standards while still keeping the charm that made the movie so great to begin with. Whether your a old fan or a new one, this movie remains top notch, and is definitly worth the upgrade to blu-ray.

Movie Review: Blu-Ray Review
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm gonna review the quality of the blu-ray version of this movie. I'm not gonna review the movie itself as there are enough reviews of it. I was surprised with the quality of this movie, I wasn't expecting an spectacular image quality but it exceeded my expectations. Sure the quality is not like a new release film, but the quality is outstanding considering how old is this movie. My only gripe is that image quality is not consistent in some parts of the movie(those are few), but I think that's more related to the camera work in the movie than with the HD conversion. The audio is superb, and that's a good thing especially with this movie. Recommended buy for HDTV owners.

Movie Review: Attention on Deck!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

The blu-ray TOP GUN is like watching a whole new movie. Sure the picture is much better, but THE SOUND makes this work. I have a 7.1 dolby surround sound system which is 7 speakers plus a sub-woofer (8 total) and the 6.1 soundtrack lights up all the speakers. During the intial carrier scenes I felt like I was on deck landing the planes. It was a great experience.
Throughout the movie I noticed more details than the standard dvd. It is not necessary to have a great sound system to experience the improvements made to the blu ray edition, but it sure makes for one heck of an overall experience.

Movie Review: Completely Biased Review
Summary: 5 Stars

Read this review knowing that this is one of my all-time favorite movies. Yes, that's right, I would go outside (age 8), jump on my bike, and take off dreaming of flying those beautiful F-15's. I probably watched it 20 times a years during Jr. High and High School. I have been anticipating this blu-ray release ever since I heard rumor of it's pending release. Althought typical of most 80's HD movies, this one is absolutely beautiful. Is it the best blu-ray for picture and audio? No way. But if you want a quality movie, that's very fun, and in high-def... Get it. You want be dissapointed.
