Movie Reviews of Tool: Vicarious

Movie Review: THERE IS NO LIVE FOOTAGE
Summary: 4 Stars

Just so people aren't mislead by 2 other reviews here, THERE IS NO LIVE FOOTAGE (like they would include Swamp Song on the Vicarious dvd!)...

BUT, this dvd is definitely worth buying. Apart from the Vicarious clip which is excellent, you get more bonus stuff than their previous dvd releases for Schism and Parabola. The "making of" runs for 40 minutes and is informative with lots of interviews with people that made Vicarious. It also helps explain why it has taken so long for this clip to be made. The commentary with David Cross is suitably silly and I enjoyed watching Alex Grey's COSM section.

If you're a fan of Tool's you no doubt would have bought this by now anyway, but for anyone who has seen a low quality copy on youtube do yourselves (and the band) a favour and do it justice by buying the dvd.

Oh one more thing - there is no live footage.

Movie Review: alex grey and tool have done it again!
Summary: 4 Stars

Packaging is just like 10,000 days pkg w/ magnifying glass cover to view pieces of still shots included inside. Adam jones & alex grey created another surreal world w/ imagery only yourself can comprehend. Some lightly animated Grey art from net of being shows up along w/ some eerie creatures. You get a tour of Alex grey's art museum, some behind the scenes interviews w/ people who know Adam and how he got involved in art. Guest commentary is by David cross but not too much funny really happens since he claims that he has not even heard the song and is just trying to 'comment' on a surreal video. It's still alot of $ to spend on one video (they can fit all their latest vids on one dvd easily from the past couple of albums. Check out the Parabola vid from Tool . For some reason i like that one better then this video.

Movie Review: What You'd Expect
Summary: 4 Stars

Tool is my favorite band and I'll support them to the end which is why I've bought their dvd's. This is pretty much what you'd expect. A better menu than usual, but once again, a comical and unhelpful commentary. It is funny (from David Cross) but you can't help but wonder sometimes why they won't talk about the video itself. Oh well. Cool packaging. It has the stereoscopic lenses like the 10,000 Days cd with 5 double sided cards with images you stick into a slot built into the cd.

Good song, awesome video, typical presentation

Movie Review: 2 different variations of this video
Summary: 4 Stars

As per Tool stuff, there seems to be 2 different versions of this "dvd" single. I see in in amazon , just a flat front. Mine has the "eye's" as per , 10,000 days....A flip over with 2 magnififing eyes....What's the deal?
I'm happy I got this one as it has extra's the other does'nt.
Anyone have an idea what this is the out of print Salival is worth $200-300 us dollars now........just wondering. Any ideas out there????

Movie Review: Worth the waiting
Summary: 4 Stars

This DVD is incredible. The documentary with images of Adam working on Predator/Jurassic Park, etc. it's amazing. Most of them I've never seem before.
Then we have a little tour on CoSM. It's like "WOW, I must go there!".
The Vicarious video itself is a masterpiece, obviously. The combination of Jones and Grey it's always perfect. We waited more than a year, but it's not a disappoinment, for sure.
