Movie Reviews of Tom Selleck: Stone ColdMovie Review: GREAT SELLECK Summary: 5 Stars
This is the 2nd movie in the series of 4 made for TV movies. Night Passage being the first, Death In Paradise the third, and Sea Change the fourth. All the movies will stand alone but if you want to really get into it buy all 4 movies. Selleck is at his best in these. The stories are about Jesse Stone, an ex LAPD detective who drowns his sorrows in scotch on the rocks, as the new chief of police in a small town in New England. Jesse is a nice guy with a very stong sense of right and wrong even if it means being unconventional. Great movies and great plots. Buy them and curl up in a chair like you are reading a good book.
Movie Review: Stone Cold is Hot! Summary: 5 Stars
Stone Cold
Very good made for TV film, three others have been made as well based on this series. Selleck is excellent as Police Chief Jesse Stone. Terrific supporting cast esp. Viola Davis as the hard to impress deputy/dispatcher.
Fans of Magnum may be surprised to see the Jesse Stone character is quite different, much darker, more flawed. Selleck plays this role with gritty realism. Definitely a don't miss for Selleck fans or lovers of the murder mystery genre.
Movie Review: Mr. Selleck I presume... Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second in a series of 5 DVD's of the Jesse Stone stories. Tom Selleck is a good actor who has nailed this character to a tee... an ex LA Homicide cop who falls into alcoholism after his wife has an affair and divorces him, the drinking cost him his job.
His last chance is being the Sheriff of a small north-eastern town called Paradise.
In this one he has to deal with a serial killer who's come to town and seems to take an interest in him personally. With twist in the plot, a good script and great acting - this a very enjoyable film.
Movie Review: 1ST OF 6 MOVIES (SO FAR), BUT WATCH THIS MOVIE AFTER Jesse Stone: Night Passage Summary: 5 Stars
"Stone Cold" is the 1st of 6 movies (so far). If you're new to the series, you'll want to watch "Jesse Stone: Night Passage (#2 movie)" first. "Night Passage" shows how Jesse Stone leaves his old job and becomes Chief of Police of Paradise. Although, each movie can stand on it's own, it may help to watch in the order of events. Why the studios made and released them the way they did....who knows! I wont spoil the plot but Tom Selleck plays an excellent chief of police with his take no sh@@ from criminals attitude.
Movie Review: Simply outstanding... Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I have greatly enjoyed this series of made-for-TV films based on the books by Robert Parker. Each of these movies is beautifully shot and wonderfully acted, and the stories are compelling, if not overly complex (though they do pretty well for 90 minutes). Tom Selleck is terrific as Jesse Stone, a washed up LAPD detective who finds a second chance as the chief of police in a scenic Massachusetts town. Each DVD we watched left us wanting more... I can't remember the last "real" movie that we enjoyed as much.
