Movie Reviews of ThunderheartMovie Review: Val Kilmer and Graham Greene deliver stellar perforamnces. Summary: 5 Stars
Although an older film, "Thunderheart" still presents a very realistic depiction of reservation life among the Sioux Indians of South Dakota. The clash of cultures combines with the greed and corruption of the US government to create a tense but thorough, Tony Hillerman type mystery story. Steven M. Ulmen, author of "Blood on the Prairie - A Novel of the Sioux Uprising."
Movie Review: Healing story for challenging times Summary: 5 Stars
Thunder Heart is one of my favorite movies. It's a medicine story which takes place in South Dakota, on the Lakota Reservation at Pine Ridge and the Badlands. The story is this: Spirit and Heart are the source of True Power which is not suppressed by the fearful actions of those who are lost and have forgotten their hearts. Very timely lesson these days.
Movie Review: Eye opener Summary: 5 Stars
Great and outstanding early performance by Val Kilmer prefaces his mega acting career. Wonderfully humorous to lighten the intense drama that this movie is. Reminded me of times I spent in Montana with the Crow and Northern Cheyenne and some the lingering issues they had with the federal government even into the 1990's and perhaps still exist today.
Movie Review: underappreciated gem Summary: 5 Stars
this movie did not get its due at the time. a powerful story about a native american FBI agent swept up in politics and police corruption on an indian reservation. val kilmer gives a performance that he touches only one more time in the doors. the cast is wonderful all round with an especially strong performance by sam shepard as a corrupt FBI agent.
Movie Review: Land of the Free, Not Really Summary: 5 Stars
This movie follows some of the Native American side of recent history.
An excellent companion movie is the documentary, "Incident at Oglala"
which was presented by Robert Redford.
Both movies are an indictment of the Power Elite's usual two-step dance of, "The search for the guilty and then the punishment of the innocent".
