Movie Reviews of ThunderheartMovie Review: Thunder Heart Summary: 5 Stars
Val Kilmer did an excellent job in this movie. It kept my attention throughout. Graham Green was great as always as he was in the movie Dances With Wolves. It had drama, action and fulfillment. As I am part Native American I have always been saddened at the way the American Indian has been portrayed through the years. This movie shows how many of them live and how they were and are taken advantage of by not only the white man but by their own people. I liked the ending though. Grandpa knew what was up and did a number on the FBI agents. I loved it. As Thunderheart (Val Kilmer) sat in his car at the crossroad, you wonder what will he do, now that he has reached back to his roots? All in all, I loved the movie and would highly recommend it to any that loves a good drama.
Movie Review: Authentic. Humble. Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
It's 3:03 a.m. and I have just spent 1 hour writing a fabulous review of this credible, creative, and cautionary movie. Some may not see all that's presented here. That's okay. Just remember, it's been around since 1992, and people keep comming back to it. It truly is Amazing in its authenticity.
Previously, I wrote a small book including nuances, as a review of Thunderheart. When it came time to submit, I pushed the wrong button and lost it all. That's why this is so short. The Spirits often use fun to teach a lesson. Enter, Humility.
If you're interested in growth, or just want to broaden your perspective on Native American life, watch this. Better yet, buy it. I did.
Movie Review: timeless Summary: 5 Stars
Thunderheart has it all fantastic acting,a great story and some of the most beautiful scenery ever put to film. John trudell is one actor who really stood out to me fantastic work. The others were great to espicially one of my favorite actors graham green he has some great humorous lines. The story mirriors the plight of activist leonard peltier only not as nearly bloody as the civil war on the reservation that in a way lead to the shooting death of a native american and two fbi agents that in turn lead to the false imprisonment of leonard peltier. Thunderheart is a movie i can watch time and time again. And i see no reason anyone else wouldn't like it.
Movie Review: South Dakota and the Badlands Summary: 5 Stars
My wife adores South Datoka for its geological beauty and history. Shown here is the lanscape that challenged many a people to adap to the harhness of the Badlands. This movie uses sound and cinematic tricks to draw you into the lives of the native American people in a reservation while engaging you with its action. There are a few scenes that are gruesome and my wife turns away from. We first dicovered Thunder Heart when it played on TCM and watched it about five times. After we received the DVD, we've viewed it another 5 times. That should be an indication of how addictive it is to watch. I hope you enjoy it as much as us.
Movie Review: Always Get Tape Summary: 5 Stars
This movie, which didn't fare well at the box office, fares well with me. It illuminates a dark time, sure, but warns that darkness lurks still for Native people (and others) in this "free" country of ours. Racism is not limited to a time period (unfortuantely) and some racists are members of the groups against which they discriminate. This film shows that clearly. In modern day "casino times," we may see this kind of intra-ethnic racism is still flourishing in Native communities. See the film, and remember to document any kind of racism you see, point it out to your kids, and maybe it will not survive. Remember, "always get tape."
