Movie Reviews of Three O'Clock HighMovie Review: Truly a classic!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know if I'd compare this movie to The Breakfast Club, which inadvertantly ushered in the era of teen angst. Instead, I would put this next to Ferris Bueller or Can't Buy Me Love. It's definitely a more light-hearted film.
The real distinction is the creative approach. It's the same kind of quirky stylistic innovation that made Raising Arizona so unique (this film is nothing like Raising Arizona...). Phil Joanou (Director) makes the cinematography a character in and of itself. No matter how well-written/acted, this movie would have been just another forgettable 80's teen-flick, without the quick pans, fast dollys, and overall visual texture of the film.
Buy it. It'll end up in your DVD tray more than you would expect.
Movie Review: Great comedy-drama, even better than da BREAKFAST CLUB! Summary: 5 Stars
To make one thing clear in front; THE BREAKFAST CLUB is one of those films I'll even love and won't get enough of, when I've even seen a thousand times! Because of its typical 80s-flair, and the great intense actings, it is for me one of the greatest films ever made! Wouldn't there be THREE O`CLOCK HIGH - a laconic highschool-comedy-drama with a hilariously extravagant story and a standout in acting-qualities! Casey Sziemasko has to match Richard Tyson in a fight he can't win! So he does anything to prevent the fight - funny, but also dramatic situations follow and in the end anything has to come how it had to come!GO WATCH IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Movie Review: One of the best movies from the 80's Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is one of my all-time favorite movies. And not just from the 80's as well. I've have been waiting patiently for this gem of a movie to come to DVD. And now I have finally been rewarded!!!:-) It couldn't have come at a better time, since my only copy on VHS tape is completly worn out. For those aspiring film makers out there, take joy!! This is the one movie that you will study over and over, learning all the cool camera moves and tricks. It's better to spend 15 Bucks on this instead of 50,000 on film school. Enjoy. You will not be disappointed in this movie. It never loses its charm. Chip
Movie Review: Superb! Summary: 5 Stars
One of the best teenage coming of age movies I have ever seen. Great script, great cast and wonderful performances from all involved. Everything came together in this one. A classic. Richard Tyson and Casey Siemaszko are absolutely wonderful.
If you've ever thought that you had a rough day in high school you should see this movie. No one should ever have to go through what Jerry Mitchell goes through this day, but he still gives a great book review in his lit class. You have to see it to understand.
Aside from being a very good coming of age film, this is also a very good comedy.
Movie Review: Glad to see this finally make it to DVD Summary: 5 Stars
I actually have an old VHS copy of this movie, because until now this one was never released on DVD. This is for sure a cool movie, along the lines of two more well known 80's High School comedies, "Ferris Beuller's Day Off" and "Better Off Dead". The humourous camera angles, the extreme close ups of the minute hand on the clock, the pep rally where cheerleaders attack a dummy of the opposing team and beat it with bats while the bully looks over at Jerry from the other side of the gym with a look like "This is what's gonna happen to you after school".....classic 80's comedy!
