Movie Reviews of Three Little Words

Movie Review: An emblematic musical!
Summary: 5 Stars

Two famous songwriters' story : Kalmar and Ruby is shown magisterially by a fine direction of Richard Thorpe and a bouncing cast that included the charismatic Fred Astaire, the sympathetic red Skelton, plus the combined talents of Vera- Ellen and Arlene Dahl one of my favorite beauties of the American Cinema.

From start to finish, the script is so dynamic and fluid, loaded with tender, funny and human situations, that will engage you; even you are not a hard fan of musicals, because this film is quite above the average.

One of my eternal cult musical movies.

Movie Review: Debbie Reynolds first film
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been waiting for this title to hit DVD. Fred Astaire, Red Skelton, Vera Ellen and Debbie. Who could ask for anything more? It is a story about two song writers, whose names are easily forgotten. But, you will remember some of the songs, if you remember the '50's and '60's-smile! They just don't make musicals like this anymore.
Good transfer, color and sound. Limited release so you had better get it before it is too late. The extras feature a Carlton Carpenter interview who sings in another film with Debbie. TWO WEEKS WITH LOVE.

Movie Review: Three Little Words
Summary: 5 Stars

What a treasure! It's too bad more people don't watch this. Fred and Red are terrific together. I bet a lot of people also do no know that Red is a good actor & musician. Red used to do song and dance as well as the comedy he was best know for doing. Vera Ellen is an exceptional dancer...together you could see the fun Fred & she were having dancing together. It has been said that "in private" she was one of his favorite partners. Fred & Vera played their part so well. Arlene Dahl was wonderful and Ruby's (Red) wife.

Movie Review: Delightful Gem
Summary: 5 Stars

I was waiting for this come out on DVD for several years. It's hard to locate at video rentals and libraries often don't have it, but it's truly wonderful. The music is terrific and the cast ensemble is very enjoyable. Skelton and Astaire have a nice chemistry. I think this is their only film together, which is too bad.

All-in-all just a very pleasant movie to watch and re-watch. Look for Debbie Reynold's film debut. Highly Recommended.

Movie Review: Good Clean Fun
Summary: 5 Stars

Great entertainment! The music, The dancing. Fred Astaire, Vera Ellen, even a few glimpses of Debbie Reynolds. Really nice to watch and hear. While the story line is not completely true-to-fact (isn't that what we expect from Hollywood?), the accompanying documentary in the Extras menu corrects some of the inaccuracies. Red Skelton is good also, and gets a chance at some comedy early in the film.
