Movie Reviews of Three Amigos!

Movie Review: He does not kill crying women!
Summary: 5 Stars

Before comedic artists came into Hollywood demanding they attempt a role in a very serious film, there were films like Three Amigos. Riddled with laughs, upon laugh, upon laughs, this wildly enjoyable romp through the open desert could only have been accomplished by three of our favorite comedians. Those are Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short. To say that anyone in today's cinema can come close to the genius of these three powerhouses would be a lie. While I do believe that Ryan Reynolds is a very close to becoming the next Chase, nobody else can match their style, humor, and elegance. Comedy was not just a job for these three, it was an art.

Three Amigos places us in a small town that is searching for some heroes that will help them get rid of some local hoodlums. Mistaking the opportunity as work, our three protagonists rush into the town prepared for the show of a lifetime. Little do they know, they are soon going to be fighting life and death. Thankfully, seriousness is in low amounts in this film, and comic hijinks ensure. Our three stumble through bars, the desert, and the final hide-a-way before their creative finale.

I remember watching this film with my family when I was really young. I remember laughing at everything these three bumbling idiots did, and how impressed I was by the grace they did it with. As I grew older, this film remained with me. These three actors represent some of the funniest moments in cinematic history, and here they are gathered together to make a film. I loved this movie. I loved the absurdity, the randomness, and the sheer fun of these types of films. I miss this type of physical, pseudo-intellectual humor. I miss laughing as much as I did when I first watched this film, and when I watch it over and over again. The simplistic nature of this film allows it to be enjoyed at any time during your life. Martin, Short, and Chase are at the top of their game and never let go. It is sad to see these actors getting less and less work today.

Overall, this film impressed me. It is funny, enjoyable, and so silly that you don't need to wade through the bathroom humor to get to the good stuff. It is all right there. I suggest this film to anyone that is looking to laugh and be entertained!

Movie Review: Funny Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

The plot set in 1916, the movie revolves around three silent movie actors called the Three Amigos. (played by Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, and Martin Short). In their movies, the Three Amigos are "three wealthy Spanish landowners" who fights for justice on behalf of people who can't fight for themselves. A woman, who lives in the Mexican village of Santa Poco, seeks help stopping a tyrant named El Guapo and his band of outlaws. The woman sees a "Three Amigos" movie and mistakenly believes the trio are real crime fighters. She sends a telegram to the "Three Amigos", who mistakenly believe the telegram is an offer to act with a famous Mexican actor named El Guapo. Naturally, the movie stars run from Santa Poco after one of them is shot and they realize this is not acting, but the real thing. The remainder of the film is the trio's comedic attempt to become the "Three Amigos" for real.
Three Amigos! is a very funny film with an excellent cast that suffers from a truly, very bad DVD. The Three Amigos are three silent movie actors down on their luck whne they receive a telegram from a village in Mexico asking them to help rid themselves of El Guapo, an infamous bandit in the area. The three agree thinking that it is all part of a show when it is actually very real. The scene in which they discover this is one of the funniest in the movie. Naturally, the heroes must redeem themselves and decide to go after El Guapo and his gang of tequilla drinking banditos. There are several very funny scenes including the dance number in the bar, the singing bush and the invisible knight, and the Three Amigos' theme song.

Movie Review: A Plethora of Laughs
Summary: 5 Stars

Three Amigos has been one of my all-time favorite comedies since i was very young. Seeing Three Amigos! on sale in DVD form was very exciting, but I had my doubts as to whether this dynamic trio would still be entertaining to me now that I have grown older. Since it had been so long since I saw it last, it was like watching the movie over again for the first time and I was not only not disappointed, but utterly impressed at what I saw.

The three amigos that play the amigos could not have been better suited for the roles. The movie also introduces other interesting characters the fit the bill quite nicely. The plot is delightfully corny, the acting is superb and throughout the film, there are countless displays of comic brilliance as well as raw talent. Chevy Chase, Martin Short and Steve Martin were in their prime during the production of this movie and it is a rare treat to see three of the best doing what they do best in perfect harmony with one another.

The three stars of the film fill the length of movie with an abundance of things to laugh at. If you have not seen this movie, or its been a while, do yourself a favor and check it out. The funny storyline, creative characters and light hearted good time attitude will keep you thoroughly entertained. I leave you with the Amigos salute....HUH!(you'll get it when you see the movie obviously)

Movie Review: Fun, clean slapstick comedy
Summary: 5 Stars

I remember seeing "The Three Amigos" in the movie theatre way yonder in my days of youth. At the time, I thought it was the funniest film I had ever seen. Three of my favorite SNL stars Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, and Martin Short in one film. How much funnier can a movie be? Not much.

Chevy, Steve, and Martin plays three recently out of work actors in Hollywood. They are contacted by Carmen (the lovely Patricia Martinez), thinking that the characters they play in a film are real, to help out her town who are being bullied by a bunch of bandits headed by El Guapo. The trio of out of work actors thinks that Carmen is looking for actors to perform for her and her townspeople. The miscommunication quickly leads to one hilarious scene after another.

It's hard to pick a favorite scene. I love the singing bush, the dance number in the ol' Mexican dive, and the final showdown between the trio and El Guapo's gang. Hopefully someday "The Three Amigos" will receive a proper dvd treatment which would include bonus footage as well as better sound and picture. There is nothing crude or obscene about "The Three Amigos" except maybe the shooting scenes but they were obviously fake and not very realistic. This is a good family film to see.

Movie Review: Might Be The Funniest Film I've Ever Seen
Summary: 5 Stars

This is what comedy entertainment is all about!

It may even rank as the funniest movie I've ever seen. It just has a ton of laughs, start-to-finish, and without a lot of the raunch of today's comedy films.

Not only does the dialog produce numerous laugh-out-loud scenes but so do all the sight gags, and there are plenty of those. The funniest characters in the film are the villains, led by "El Guapo," played by Alfonso Arau. He is almost indescribable. All he has to do is open his mouth and show his bad teeth and then give his huge smile and I crack up every time.

The three leads - played by Steve Martin, Matin Short and Chevy Chase - are all excellent and in the primes of their careers. The film also is directed by John Landis, who has a knack for directing extremely entertaining movies. This film was written by Martin, Lorne Michaels of "Saturday Night Live," and songwriter Randy Newman. Kudos to all of them for a job well done.

In addition to the great comedy, decent language and color characters both good guys and bad guys, was the beautiful cinematography. There is a very colorful-looking film and looks outstanding on DVD. The only thing better would be a sharp Blu-Ray transfer.
