Movie Review: Thoroughly Silly and Entertaining

Thoroughly Modern Millie is a hilarious 1920's type comedy. Its about a young girl in the city who wants to be "modern" and her adventures with her friends Miss Dorothy (Mary Tyler Moore) and Jimmy (James Fox). It has everything you could ask for in a movie: laughs, music, romance, mystery, and excitement. Although I may be a bit biased, considering I'm the worlds biggest Julie Andrews fan! She does a wonderful job portraying Millie! Very cute, not for the serious type though. What it lacks in plot and substance, it makes up for with humor and well...Julie! A great movie, I definitly recommend it!!Movie Review: TERRIF, OH DELISH!

This is wonderfully entertainig and is simply... well, TERRIF!Julie Andrews is hilarious in this rather camp look on the zany 20's. Mary Tyler Moore, i found was rather anoying at first but then i fell in love with her. Carol Channing is simply bonkers, thats the only word i can describe Muzzy with and John Gavin is brilliant as Trevor Graydon, and i found it hysterically funny when he started to refer to Millie as "John" but the funniest thing was, i thought it rather suited her!!!!Altogether this is just Fun Fun Fun and if you want a little chuckle then by this wonderful movie.

I saw this film in a drama class and fell in love with it! Julie Andrews has a superb singing voice, and the other members of the big-name cast do a fantastic job as well. Although bits are a little hokey, in the main it is an amazingly funny film. The music is a ton of fun, especially the ultra-catchy titular tune. Funny movie and lots of good actor/actresses and a crazy story. Love stories are thread throughout the movie and have several twist and turns. Lots of singing and dancing and unexpected actions scenes. A little long so it might not appeal to young children. Would recommend 11 and older with family to really enjoy the movie. As a child growing up in the 70's, this was a favorite movie with all my friends. Every birthday party usually began with "Thoroughly Modern Millie" on 16mm film projector. Today, my friends and I still use a few expressions we picked up from Carol Channing and Julie Andrews.
This is a funny and entertaining musical that takes place in the 1920's. I still enjoy seeing it everynow and then.
