Based on a memoir by fiction writer Tobias Wolff, Caton-Jones's domestic melodrama--adapted by Robert Getchell, of "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" fame--tackles the myriad difficulties of surviving adolescence in a dysfunctional home. DiCaprio, in his first lead role, is likably mischievous playing against the petty tyranny of DeNiro's lying, thieving, authoritarian Dwight. Barkin is effective, too, as the submissive woman who can't seem to admit she's made a mistake in wedding him. Sensitively directed by Caton-Jones, "Life" will resonate with anyone who's ever had to fight for respect and independence.Movie Review: Greatest Deniro movie EVER

This movie is by far the most entertaining movie I have ever seen. The acting is brilliant. Deniro is not known for comedy, but this is his greatest role, it is hilarious. I still tell my kid if he ever does anything bad "kill or cure" every time my wife makes me dinner I complain "This is all I get for dinner." If I ever get mad at my wife I call her a "Liar and a Whore." I tell my coworkers "I know a thing or two about a thing or two." If you want great lines, awesome acting, and one of the most charming entertaining movies ever watch this movie.Movie Review: a really good movie to see - moving and full of suspence

I have been waiting for this one to come out on DVD as it really is a ground breaking experience to see one of Leonardo's start and with Robert De Niro you see a head on crash with two people a boy and his Step Father. De Niro is a raging Father and Leo is stuck in a life and wants out no matter what. Leo holds his cool but ends up fighting as De Niro won't budge. Well watch this one and see how Leo's started his grear career with a big take off of his acting ability with De Niro. - AnonymousMovie Review: Great Comedy!

The fight scenes between jack (leonardo) and dwight (dinero) are hilarious, the mustard, the fight between jack and little lord arthur gayle. This is one of the funniest movies I have seen. Dwight is hysterical in the way he treats his wife and his step-son, I wish they would make a sequel so we could laugh some more. My college buddies and I get together once a year and laugh out loud and constantly say "IS IT EMPTY" regarding the mustard scene.Movie Review: This Boy's Life

This movie was very good, De Niro did was brilliant as usual, and DiCaprio gave a good performance also. The movie is sort of funny in a way too, I mean the fight scene when he fought the (...) guy, the movie is not all up tight and dramafied, which is all the reason why it is more enjoyable. Check it out if you are a DiCaprio or a De Niro fan.
