Movie Reviews of The WraithMovie Review: Great 80's Hero/Revenge Story with a tough of love Summary: 4 Stars
I was 16 or 17 when I saw this movie and I loved it. If you are looking for a deep, serious, modern, adult, tear-jerking drama, you don't want this. Having said that, this is an otherwise very cool movie! It is one of my favorite movies of the 80's (top 20) and an early masterpiece for Charlie Sheen. Hero ghost comes back and gets revenge, scores points with the girl, and sets up his bro with a hot supernatural car... sounds a little cheesey? Hey, it's a 1986 action movie about a ghost coming back for revenge! But, for it's time it is EXCELLENT! I recommend it. The car is incredible and yes, I want one. To this day (I'm 32 now) I look for photos of it on the web. The Dodge Turbo Interceptor. Anyway, the movie is a good action/revenge movie with a hint of comedy and an awesome soundtrack. "Where's the Fire" by Tim Feehan is fantastic and ahead of it's time!
Movie Review: Thank the gods the 80's are over.... Summary: 4 Stars
The only reason why I gave this movie such a high rating is not because it is one of the great movies that surfaced from out of the eighties, but because it is so bad its good. The only thing I could think of between bouts of laughter is that people must have been doing loads of drugs during the 80's. "The Wraith" is literally a hodge podge of everthing in the 80's that was ludicrous, ridiculous, and totally lame. Just check out the car racing goons with the colored mohawks, pink makeup, belly shirts, and, last but certainly not least of all, the ton of hairspray. Charlie Sheen's fluffy hairstyle is right out of a Cyndi Lauper music video. "The Wraith" is almost like a horrible parody of "The Crow." In any case, this is one film you cannot miss, if not for nostalgic reasons, then just for a laugh.
Movie Review: Holy Cheese Batman! Summary: 4 Stars
Yes, this is a Swiss movie - it's holy cheese.Entertaining, though, at least from a nostalgia point. I grew up watching this movie every summer, and it hasn't lost it's charm to me. Charlie Sheen being bad yet good, villians named Packard driving 'Vettes, Clint Howard! This movie has it all. Unfortunately, the transfer isn't great. Very watchable, but dark. I believe a better transfer was just released in April 2004, though I can't verify this. You may want to try to find details on that one, but you won't go wrong with this. If you like Rebel Without a Cause esque drag races, 80s special effects and music and Charlie Sheen, well, this movie might be a keeper. Just take it with a grain of salt.
Movie Review: THE WRAITH Summary: 4 Stars
This movie was awesome, the car way ahead of it's time I want one so bad, the girl Keri so hot. I seen this movie only a few times as a kid then I forgot the name of the movie which really disappointed me then one day it just happened to be on tv. No I am a dvd owner of this movie and the way it's one dvd is much better than the vhs version. The only thing I have always questioned about the movie is " whats the deal with the metal objects that vanish after someone gets killed." If anyone has the answer please email at smitty318203@yahoo.com I sure would like to know.
Movie Review: Should've been on VH1's "I Love The 80's"... Summary: 4 Stars
When I was a kid, this movie had me and my friends talking for weeks. The car featured in this flick was way ahead of anything we'd seen on the road back then, and we all of course wanted a car just like it when we grew up. Still haven't got one yet, but watching this DVD makes me want a kick-a** ride like that, even after all these years. A great and (sadly) long forgetten diamond-in-the-rough film about a guy using his tricked-out wheels to get the ultimate revenge on the adolescent bullies who killed him.
