Movie Reviews of The WraithMovie Review: High Plains Drifter with a twist Summary: 5 Stars
The Wraith is a modern remake of the Clint Eastwood classic, "High Plains Drifter." In "The Wraith," Eastwood is replaced by Sheen, and the horse by a fantasically futuristic car; the Dodge/PPG Industries Pace car, AKA the Turbo Interceptor in the film.
Jamie Hankins is dating Keri Johnson. The leader of a notorious road racing gang has claimed Keri for himself, however, and decides to eliminate the competition. Jamie is brutally murdered and his body set ablaze in a fiery car crash. Now, Jamie was no good guy in life, and upon his arrival in Hell, he makes a pact with the devil to exchange the souls of every gang member responsible for his death, in exchange for his own soul's release.
Jamie returns to Earth as Jake; the driver of the hottest car ever built. One by one, he eggs members of the gang into races, where he emerges victorious and the loser ends up dead; his eyes missing. This is a sure sign they have been sent back to Hell. Each time a gang member is killed, a mysterious brace disappears. Once the last member is dead, the final brace is gone, and Jake/Jamie is free once more.
This is one of my favorite movies, and I was privileged to work with David Sherrill recently, who played Skank in this movie. A lot of these guys were nobodies when it came out, but have since gone on to much bigger and better things.
An awesome movie with a killer 80's soundtrack.

Stretched it out and broke the tape!!!!!!!!! OHH I WAS FURIOUS!!!!!!! I have always cleaned the tape path of my VCR!! and not by just sticking a tape cleaner and calling it done!!! NO WAY I took the cover off and cleaned the entire path and stuck new bands on it as well!! thats how it lasted me ever since The "Wraith" came out!!! Thats why now I seen it was on DVD? Movie Review: You might be surprised... Summary: 5 Stars
I remember taking a date to watch this movie in 1987. When it started, we both thought, "What are we getting ourselves into here? I think we made a mistake..." Surprisingly, the story was entertaining, even though it is a bit cheesy in parts, as one of the other reviewers mentioned. There were something like 7 people in the movie theatre, and everyone was openly talking to whomever they were seated with. But, everyone was talking about the movie--myself and my date included--because it has a feeling to it that makes you want to say things like, "Whoa, check THAT out!" It felt like I was watching it in my own living room. We enjoyed ourselves and a testament to it is that I still fondly remember it. The music is VERY 80's. The young actors are really easy to like. The car is ever so cool. I would say that the PRICE is RIGHT here. If you buy it and watch it in your living room with an open and nostalgic-for-the-80's kind of mind, you just might enjoy it as much as we did.
Movie Review: The original The Crow Summary: 5 Stars
When The Crow was released back in 1994 a lot of people found it original and well presented. But the fact is that this movie from 1986 is it's source. Sorry for The Crow's author James La Barr, but is the truth. The Wraith had an obvious very small budget but is really nice, the acting is good and the characters cool, the punk who sniffs WD40 is still one of my favorite 80's movie characters. There are a lot of people here who later became famous, I could be mistaken but I believe this is Charlie Sheen's first movie. And the girl Sherilyn Fenn was hot like hell, she look far better than the famous Megan Fox today. This is a really cool 80's flick, do not pass it up.
Movie Review: Timeless...in an odd way Summary: 5 Stars
This film raises questions at every turn: Where are all the parents? How old is Packard Walsh supposed to be? If it is a magic car, how come it has a Dodge logo on it? And where do the lovebirds drive off to in the end, outerspace or spring break? This is from the era where HBO just ran the same 8 bad teen films over and over again. You know, Alien from L.A., Lucas, Teen Witch, Solarbabies and so forth? It doesn't matter because it holds up over time. Upon viewing it for the 1st time this year, my husband proclaimed it the greatest movie ever made and watched it over and over. Being that it is only an hour and 20 minutes long, it sits just right with you.
