Movie Review: Highly Enjoyable
Summary: 5 Stars
Having never been one to seek out "feel good movies of the year" type movies, but after recently purchasing an HD DVD player and this being on sale and since I had heard good things about it I bought it...I liked it very much - a worthwhile film even at full price.
The HD DVD transfer in both video and audio is top notch! Also included on the disc as a bonus is the original 1971 documentary "Offerings to the God of Speed" by the same director, featuring historical footage of the real Burt Munro.
Anthony Hopkins' brings a genuine likability to the real-life historical icon, Burt Munro, and provides an excellent overall performance. Burt encounters a variety of well-played characters as well, both back home and throughout his travels - look out for that "motorcycle gang"! :)
"The World's Fastest Indian" features some beautiful, grassy New Zealand neighborhood backdrops, along with multiple eye-catching shots from several locations throughout California, Nevada and Utah...you'll also get to look at some classic cars along the way.
"The World's Fastest Indian" is an inspiring true story, with a lot of high-quality visual bang for the buck, and it includes a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track as well.
I could easily watch this movie again! If you haven't seen this film before and you aren't offended by movies that aren't offensive, then you too might find "The World's Fastest Indian" to be one hell of a ride!
Summary of The World's Fastest Indian [HD DVD]
Academy Award® winner, Anthony Hopkins stars as Burt Munro, a man who never let the dreams of youth fade.In the late 1960's, after a lifetime of perfecting his classic INDIAN MOTORCYCLE, Burt sets off from the bottom of the world, Invercargill, New Zealand, to clock his bike at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. With all odds against him, Burt puts his irrepressible kiwi spirit to the test, braving the new world on a shoestring budget. Burt's quest culminates in an unlikely conclusion and remains legendary within the motorcycle community to this day.
