this movies is a true classic,please don't buy this thinking that this is the orginal,it's not it's better it's more to relate to!I know that I can,I live in nyc!:)
I remember watching this when I was 5 on t.v.,I was amazed. Well, put together!
Like Whitney Houston's says in her south African concert"I'm finally home to see my people" she must of had this movie in mind!
Put up this movie today, so you can feel the the feelin' of home and how it's truly feels like to be there!

Now let me tell you about a wonderful film based on a Broadway show call THE WIZ! Now THE WIZ is a magical adaption a the book by Baum. Its filled with wonderful music that inspires the soul. Dont listen to the others who give it a bad review. This movie is wonderful and should be in every household. After all the MTV generation only care about their rap and hip hop. This is true music that inspires the soul and is pleasent to the ear. Take my word for it....Hes THE WIZ and he lives in OZ!!!Movie Review: Sing along but don't mind the plot

Even though it saddens me to think that the American Black community needed to make there own version of "The Wizard of Oz", it clearly kicks **** over the original classic of the era.I would like to see this redone today with some big artists and not make it all black but an eclectic mix of all nations playing the roles. However all things aside - a movie of this class and statue is guaranteed to find pride of place on your DVD cabinet.

This is such a great movie! I remember that it scared the dickens out of me when I was a kid, and seeing it recently for the first time since then, I was just as enthralled. The performances are enchanting, the imagery is breathtaking, and the songs are magical. If you've never seen this film, you definitely should. It's a classic right up there with Willy Wonka! No words can describe this movie. It is a timeless classic set to a (at the time)futuristic setting. The singing is magical and the talent is even more of a treat. Diana Ross brings so much feeling to this role, that her song "Home" puts me to tears everytime I watch it. I have never heard a voice with so much emotion and substance. If there is one movie that is a must in your DVD collection...This is it.
