Movie Reviews of The Winds of WarMovie Review: Outstanding Mini Series Summary: 5 Stars
I was completely blown out of the water watching this back in the early 80's when it came on television....You learn all about the Hitler years and WWll when your in school...But the text books did not do it justice like this movie did...My God..what an impact it left on me...I just bought all three Mini series from amazon just in the last two weeks and have already watched it twice.....You do not want to miss this..if at all possible get it and add it to your collection..you will watch it over and over for years to come...it is a part of history you should not miss....
Movie Review: At long last! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been waiting over ten years to own "The Winds of War." After receiving my copy (on the day it was released no less), I immediately began looking at the special features and such. They are very excellent, providing a lot of behind-the-scenes perspective regarding the production. The movie itself has been digitally mastered and the sound has been remixed. On DVD this movie looks and sounds so much better then it did on VHS! It is highly recommended to anyone with an interest in history, World War II, or family drama.
Movie Review: Family saga in WW II Summary: 5 Stars
I saw the series back in the 80's, and enjoyed them then. My wife, daughter and parents-in-law did not, but on viewing it now they became instantaneously "addicted" to it; that much we had to view one episode every day during our X-mas vacation. My father in law (85 years old) particularly likes the historic accuracy. We alle like it because of the integration of drama on a personal and family scale with events worldwide.
All the attention for detail (eg in requisites) makes watching extra worthwile.
Movie Review: 'Winds of War' blows hot Summary: 5 Stars
This magnificent production captures the years leading up to Pearl Harbor vividly. It is, at bottom, a romance, revolving around the Henry family. All of the Henry men are Navy men, and each plays an important part in the conduct of the second world war. Fans of Herman Wouk's novels will not be disappointed by this TV miniseries. Those who don't see Ali McGraw as Natalie Jastrow can see Jane Seymour play this role in 'War and Remembrance.' Both are 'must haves' for afficionados of World War II.
Movie Review: I love The Winds Of War. Summary: 5 Stars
I was thrilled to discover, in February,2004, that Winds of War would be coming to dvd in May 2004.I have waited a long time, for this movie to come out on dvd. I was very impressed with its nice box casing and its 6 seperate thin crisp dvd cases with different stars and different locals on them.I thought that the transfer on to dvd was good .I am not an expert on this, but it looked good to me. I am very happy that I purchased this mini series from Amazon.com. Thank you amazon.
