Movie Reviews of The Wiggles - Yummy Yummy

Movie Review: Wiggle your way to happiness...or your kids will
Summary: 5 Stars

A must have for any toddler. Both of my children LOVE this video. Gets them up moving, dancing and singing...EVERY time!

Movie Review: A Great Video Except for the Puppets
Summary: 4 Stars

My 18 month old daughter loves the Wiggles. Just mentioning the word "Wiggles" produces a big ole smile and sends her little feet and hands into a frenzy! She loves watching all her videos over and over and over and this one is no exception. As soon as the tune "Fruit Salad" starts in the begining, she runs over to the TV and gets ready to wiggle. The only time she runs in the other direction is when the eerie Wiggle puppets "dance their fingers and do the twist". She'll actually start to walk away (and cry) when "Shaky, Shaky" starts playing because she knows the creepy puppets are next. However, she does not have the same reaction to the puppets singing "Go Captain Feathersword, Ahoy!" I figure it's not so much the puppets that creep her (and me) out - it's the way that part of the video was made. It's like scary high-pitched Wiggle puppets do flashy Euro house music and it just doesn't work. Well, it doesn't work for me or my child.

Still, that's no reason not to buy the "Yummy, Yummy" video. It's still the Wiggles. Just be prepared to fast-forward over certain spots.

Movie Review: Beware of the Puppets
Summary: 4 Stars

My 20 month-old daugther just loves most of this DVD. She smiles and even dances along with The Wiggles.

Like all the other reviewers, I have to comment about the puppets. SCARY! And unflattering. The voices of the puppets are high-pitched and plain annoying. I would have must prefered "Go, Captain Feathersword, Go" and "Can You Point Your Fingers" as performed on The Wiggles television show by the real Wiggles.

Another point that my daughter and I are not crazy about is the Greg the Magician segment. On the television series, these segments are short, sweet, and with another Wiggle. However, Greg the Magician alone is boring.

Finally, I wished this DVD had open-captioned like other Wiggles DVDs. After all, the beauty of open caption was the foremost reason our family converted from VHS to DVDs.

In summary, the three segments without puppets and magic are fantastic. The rest of the segments -- you would wish they would just disappear.

Movie Review: Great DVD!
Summary: 4 Stars

This was our first Wiggles DVD, and what a hit it has been! My 2 year old son smiles when he sees these four smiling men dancing and singing. Fruit Salad is his favorite song, as well as the puppet scenes. I must admit that the puppets have very large features, and really look well...strange. That said, we all laugh when the puppets come on. It's so amusing to watch these puppets in this sort of "dance club" environment. The lizards in sombrero's, and the jumping lobster just add to the silliness of it all. All of their songs are so easy to learn, and the dances are fun, too! Due to their obvious popularity with my son, I have ordered two more DVD's from the Wiggles. Beauty, mate!

Movie Review: Still Yummy!
Summary: 4 Stars

This DVD is worth purchasing because it has great songs which my son loves. Yes, it has those creepy looking puppets (don't know what they were thinking when they designed them), but my 18 month old son doesn't seem to be bothered by them. I was worried at first when I heard about puppets, but I think my husband and I are more scared than him. If you get past their creepiness, it's a pretty funny segment("Point Your Fingers"). I had borrowed the video when my son was about 1 year and bought the DVD months later despite it, I give it 4.5 stars.
