Movie Reviews of The Wiggles - Dance PartyMovie Review: Great Show, Very Poor DVD Summary: 3 Stars
My two daughters (ages 3 and 18 mos.) love the Wiggles and this particular program is loads of fun. Both girls dance, jump around and have a blast to this program. However, I was extremely disappointed with the DVD transfer. Hit Entertainment obviously doesn't think parents care a hoot about DVD production values on kids titles. There are no menus (the video simply begins when the tape loads), no features (a song menu would have been the least we could expect), and finally--and this is absolute rock bottom--the chapter stops are completely random, often coming in the middle of a song or skit. I realize this is an old tape being re-released on DVD, but someone should have at least put the chapter stops at logical points throughout the program and given viewers a menu so that we could get to our kids' favorite spots quickly. It's a shame that such little care was put into the DVD production values for such a good program. It is worth owning because my girls love the program, but from a DVD standpoint, it is a big disappointment.
Movie Review: Not a bad video, but I feel sooo misled! Summary: 3 Stars
I was dissapointed with this DVD. And it has nothing to do with the quality, albeit poor. It is entertaining to see an early video with Anthony in a short-sleeved golf shirt(green!), as well as playing Captain Feathersword. And what is up with his hair? And Dorothy, well.... My son and I are huge Wiggle fans!! And we both like the video! The dissapointment is from the fact that I didn't know what I was buying. Like others have said, the pictures on the DVD cover show them as they are today, and the copyright date on the back is 2002. I was under the impression I was buying a recent video. Had it said the real date, I would have no reason to be upset. I wish that I had read the reviews before buying, so consider yourself warned!
Movie Review: Early Wiggles, but it sure doesn't bother my 3 year-old Summary: 3 Stars
I grabbed this DVD in a haste and didn't pay attention to the fact that it was REALLY early Wiggles stuff. On the first viewing, I couldn't stop groaning at how simplistic everything was. But my 3 year-old girl absolutely LOVED it, and 3 months later, she still wants to watch it several times a week. She actually wants to watch it more, but I've cut back her TV time. Now, I actually watch this DVD with her almost every time. I find it hilarious to see Anthony before a hair and makeup person got ahold of him and a cardboard version of the Big Red Car.So, in summary, if your kids are huge Wiggles fans, this DVD is worth it at the slightly lower price than the other Wiggles DVDs.
Movie Review: Needs to be reproduced Summary: 3 Stars
The kids won't care that the quality isn't good or that this was obviously made at a time when the Wiggles had no budget. The problem is that there is no DVD menu. If you hit the "skip" button, the DVD does not advance to the next song, but rather to some random spot on the disk in the middle of a song. If your child is yelling to hear a certain song, there's no way to get to it except to FF visually. How much of a problem would it be to rerelease this DVD with the scenes properly indexed?
Movie Review: Not so hot! Summary: 3 Stars
I do agree that the Wiggles may give 100% in this DVD, but the fact that it is so old with terrible props and backgrounds makes it 3 stars or less to me. My daughter received this as a first birthday gift and she won't even look at the t.v. when it's on! She loves all the "newer" Wiggles productions. I just feel that for the money my daughter and I want to see the newer Disney Wiggles vs. the Starter Wiggles. I feel this should be offered at a very discounted price.
