Movie Review: Question About The DVD....
Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of my all-time favorite movies. So much so that I bought it on laserdisc to get in widescreen, even though I didn't have an LD player (I put it on VHS with the help of a friend). On the LD there are a couple of added scenes. There is a scene where Robert and Novalyne talk about ancestral memories, a scene where lightning strikes a tree as they sit in the car, and I think another scene with Robert's mother talking about his correspondence with HP Lovecraft. Does anybody know if these are on the DVD?

This is for the passionate fan of anything R.E.Howard , as in , if you don't know what R.E. stands for don't bother with this film.It is beautifully filmed and acted by D'Onofrio and Zellweiger, and captures the moment in his life as he clutches to his dreams in a most bittersweet endgame.He was the Father of the Heroic Fantasy and his life was an homage to the original Doomed Hero of Greek Tragedy.Not for the lighthearted. I just ran across this movie on cable and thoroughly enjoyed it. When Renee Zelleweger thanked Vincent D'Onofrio at the Oscars when she won for her role in "Cold Mountain," I didn't understand why. Now I do. They were brilliant together. I've long been a fan of Vincent D'Onofrio and his work and this film was no exception. It really let me feel what life was like in the 1930s and the frustrations that go with it. Truly a wonderful film.Movie Review: Great movie, great performances

I just stumbled across this movie when it was on cable. It was riveting. The story itself (which has been described by others here in detail) is interesting and touching and I cannot say enough about the cast's performances. I immediately went online and purchased the DVD and then went to a search engine to find out what I could about Robert Howard and Novalyne Price...truly a fascinating story. this has quickly become my all time favourite movie.It is a beautiful story about unrequited love. The cast is superb,especially Vincent D`Onofrio as Robert Howard. He is a very versitile actor,whose work I admire. I was also very impressed with Renee Zellweger.The Texas town looks exactly as you would expect rural Texas in the 30s. Each time,I watch I find something else to enjoy. The "Kiss" is one of the sexiest on screen.
