Movie Reviews of The Wedding Singer

Movie Review: The Wedding Singer
Summary: 5 Stars

Adam Sandler made a serious stretch for this role and he pulled it off! The Wedding Singer is set in 1984 and Sandler stars as Robbie Hart, the Wedding Singer. It's a non stop comedy, with fun wholesome comedy, 80's nostalgia (a lot of 80;s tunes in this one, DUH!) and a cute love story. It also stars Drew Barrymore as Julia, Sandler's love interest.

This is probably one of my most favorite Sandler movies because it was very funny but at the same time very cute because of the love story and unlike Big Daddy, the love story didn't overshadow the story or the comedy and it kept you laughing until the end.

PLus how could you forget the music in this movie? Let's go down the list... You Spin Me, Holiday, True, Ladies Night (sung by cameo appearance Jon Lovitz) and of course Do You Want to Hurt Me? The soundtrack alone was enough for me to see this movie (seeing as how I sadly remember the 80's).

And Barrymore compluments Sandler on screen very well. Their on screen chemistry was very strong in this movie and it felt a little more natural than Sandler and Faruza Balk in The Waterboy. That and the honest to God funniest scene in the movie is done by Barrymore (when she's standing in front of the mirror in her wedding dress crying about the man she's going to marry).

This is a great date/comedy movie. A lot of laughs and a very happy nice ending to the movie that is very sweet. Check this out because you won't be disappointed!

Movie Review: REALISTIC reincarnation of the flamboyant 1980s!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a teenager of the 1980s, I totally enjoyed watching the Wedding Singer and reliving a moment in time when big hair, colorful clothing, flamboyant music and funny dancing were all the rage. I have to give credit to the writer and director who were able to capture just the right atmosphere of the 80s -- an almost reincarnation of the 80s -- and make a hilarious but charming, romantic film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

This is Adam Sandler's best role and he deserves better roles NOT roles catered to 10 year old boys. Hollywood has a real talent in Sandler, but you gotta give him diverse roles. It's great to see Sandler play a different role. He plays a sensitive, shy wedding singer who is left waiting at the altar on his wedding day. From that awful experience, he attempts to cope in many different ways, but luckily for him, he meets Julia played by the adorable and talented Drew Barrymore who is the warm, understanding and friendly waitress engaged to a "Miami Vice" wannabe. Not to give this movie away, but sparks do fly and both Sandler and Barrymore have just the right chemistry to make this movie work and it does!

From the music, to the big hair, the funny dancing, the 80s atmosphere and the talent and charm of both Sandler and Barrymore, I recommend this movie to anyone who would like to live or relive my generation.

Movie Review: An all-time fave
Summary: 5 Stars

One of the few movies that star a leading man and lady that actually have some spectacular chemistry between them! I swear the Adster and Drew had a crush on each other during the filming, because the smiles are so big, I cant imagine them disappearing once the cameras stopped rolling! Maybe theyre just too good. I had already seen Adam Sandler in some of his more boyish films, so it was great to see his romantic side! (without taking that hilarious temper away from him)

Being a big fan of the 80's I loved all the music and the fact that it was set in that era (hey, I saw a period piece!) but everyone in it was so exuberant and lively that it wouldnt have mattered either way! Maybe they were that happy cos they got to be 80's people - I dont know.

Drew Barrymore was also adorable and you just wanted to bang their heads together - their attraction to each other was like a first love, also filled with great respect and friendship.

But hey, I could go on about it all forever.

I like a lot of the crazy twisted humour - makes you smile. Sometimes the plot wanders a little bit, but Im only saying that because its true!

Just the thing to put a big smile on your face, really! And who could resist Robbie Hart and his quirky romantic songs? Aaahh...

Movie Review: A real gem
Summary: 5 Stars

It's the 1980's. Robbie is the lead singer of a band which performs at weddings. He's a real expert on weddings. In fact, he's getting married himself. However his bride-to-be doesn't show up. She realized that she loved the young rocker Robbie, not the no-future wedding singer Robbie. Well, he completely loses his confidence and comes to hate weddings. In comes Julia, a waitress he had befriended at the wedding hall, who needs his help to plan her wedding. Can he regain his confidence as a wedding singer? Are there feelings between Robbie and Julia? Check it out.

In this romantic comedy, Adam Sandler plays Robbie as a man with a heart of gold. My favorite scene is when Robbie is playing at a Bar Mitzvah (he won't play at weddings anymore, so there aren't a lot of options left). He spots an overweight kid who seems a bit lonely, so he arranges a special dance for him with Julia. It's difficult to describe, but it's so heartwarming.

To tell the truth, I'm a really big fan of 80's music and nostalgia. THis movie is packed full of some of the best 80's hits. If you have any love for the 80's, you should own this movie. Also in my opinion, this is the absolute best Sandler movie.

Movie Review: all time movies for telling the truth, except the end
Summary: 5 Stars

note how lame this review is on the home page here for this movie.

When he meets an admiring young waitress (delightfully played by Drew Barrymore),

it's love at first sight,

complicated by their pending marriages to much less appealing fiancés. ( No mean FINANCES )

oh yea, ladies are not supposed to mention that, but it IS mentioned in this movie from the women stars, yet not in the review haha

The plot then contorts itself to accommodate this contrived will-they-or-won't-they? scenario, so you're better off ignoring the love story and focusing on the comedy,

( because of the finance issue) !

This is one of my all time fav movies, for it tells it like its, all but the end of the movie, which would never happen, getting married, but hey they had to make a movie. Whats reality is when the scene of the movie goes, Adam, she wont marry me, I cant give her the house and white picket fence and all that important stuff to her, and then his costar says, no Adam, that's not important to some people, its important to ALL people! BOLD! And only in a movie haha
