Movie Review: The most excellent religious movie I've ever seen
Summary: 5 Stars
My mother told me about this movie years ago and after much searching we finally found it on VHS. After watching it, I realized why it had impressed itself on her so: the Messiah as portrayed by Bruce Marchiano is a virile, passionate, affectionate, emotional man, completely human and completely aware of his existence as the son of God. Told word for word from the book of Matthew, my only complaint is that the correct name Yahshua wasn't used instead of Jesus, something I never expected in the first place.
This movie is compelling, very well acted and with beautiful shots of both scenery and people at their most true to life. Especially poignant to watch during the Passover season, this movie is well worth any price and I've bought it over and over to give to friends and acquaintances once I found it on DVD.
Buy it, you won't be sorry.
Movie Review: Gospel of Matthew

Excellent presentation of the life of Jesus as presented by the Apostle Matthew. This well acted and directed video demostrated great visuals and settings to assist in the presentation of the New International Version of the scripture. The use of story-telling and drama brings new insights to the familiar message and the enhancement of the message is not dimished by the acting, actors or modern portral. The difficult Passion scenes were tastefully and effectively presented without undo violence and graffic images. The portrayal of the Transfiguration, resurrection and many miracles were well handled and appropriately believeable without special effects. Well done and highly recommend this treatement of the scripture for both education and inspiration.Movie Review: A laughing, happy Jesus...

My husband and I really enjoyed this movie! We have three different movie portrayals of Jesus Christ, which are completely consistent with their respective Gospels, and we enjoy all of them. (Read my other reviews if you're interested in them.)
The happy, laughing Jesus in this movie is intriguing. The way he speaks to people and looks at them warmly portrays his love for everyone. I think the actor really does a great job of portraying the duality of Jesus, how much he loves us, but yet that all is not hearts and flowers and warm and fuzzy due to the human condition.
If you're looking for a great movie to share with friends, family, small group, etc., this is it! Don't watch late at night because you'll want to stay awake!
Movie Review: Thoroughly enjoyed

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this word for word adaption of the Gospel according to Matthew (as opposed to the gospel OF Matthew as some call it - there is only one Gospel after all). This gives personality to the "players" that written text alone cannot. The 2nd disc where Jesus is chastising the Pharisees is awesome! It just goes to show how much exclamation marks could have been instrumental in Scripture. It really hits home after seeing this and then re-reading Matthew; the passion and compassion Jesus had, both for the sick and against the religious zealots. Highly recommend this - especially for those that don't like to read, can't see the small print anymore or just aren't interested in the Bible. This video radically changed my faith.
I spent my entire childhood thinking that Jesus was a boring, meek and weak God. This movie took the exact words of the NIV and transformed them into a new outlook on the "humanness" of Jesus. People didn't follow a boring sulking man (who strangely didn't blink in Jesus of Nazareth), but a charasmatic and joyful man. People gravitated to him. They flocked from all over because joy radiated from him.
I have followed Bruce's career since this film and God used him in a Huge way.
If you are tired of movies that portray Jesus as meek, weak and boring, this movie is for you!
