Movie Reviews of The Universe: The Complete Season One

Movie Review: The Secret of the Sun's corona
Summary: 5 Stars

1. plasma burns at millions of the degrees

2. The sun is consider a dwarf and fits 1000 earths

3. The sun is a million miles across

4. The sun produces a 380 billion billion megawatts of power

5. For fusion to occur heat and pressure must be high enough. At the core of the sun, the electrons are stripped, and collisions occur. Hydrogen fuses into Helium and the missing mass is given off as energy. 600 million tons of hydrogen are converted 595 millions to helium, the 5 million tons are converted into energy.
Photons are absorbed and reemitted, the random walk, into the convection zone, riding upward in 10 days to surface with upward gases, and 8 minutes from the sun to earth.

6. The sun was built from a supernova because of the heavy elements. The sun hoarded 99% of the gas from the original gas.

7. We are the right place from the sun.

8. Magnetism drives all outward forces from the sun, solar flares. The sun has one to ten million electromagnet poles. The magnetic field lines exist as evidenced by the coronal loops. The magnetic field can become highly twist and manifest itself a flux loops. The loop collapses and the mass through off into space. Sun spots are magnetic blemishes. Sun spots are pockets of potential energy ready to unleash. A single flare release a million megatons. The solar flare can cause hot particles downward to hit the surface of the sun causing a sun quake. A solar flare can set off a solar tsunami. Coronal mass ejections sends radioactive plasma material from the sun, know as solar storms. The space weather forecast announce sun activity and solar storms that might disrupt life on earth.

9. The corona is a million miles from the surface but burns at millions of degrees. The sun's surface is boil covered with convection cells, glowing and sinks back down in five minutes, over a million places over the sun. Each cell is about the size of Texas. The sun creates sound energy that produces the extreme temperatures in the corona.

No life on Mars

1. Mars would be the most likely planet to inhabitant in the future. Mars may hold the keys to our future and our past

2. Mars terrain is very similar to the Southern California Mojave Desert.

3. Mars is filled with iron oxidized dust

4. Mar's volcano Olympus Mound rises 15 miles above its surface.

5. The delta 2 rocket transported the spirit to mars. Mars is cold dry and desolate and temperatures drop to a 100 degrees below zero at night.

6. Mars is half the size of earth and is 34 million miles from us.

7. Mars may have been warm enough for water to flow across its surface. Mars has had water in its past

8. As the Mars iron core cooled it could no longer maintain the magnetic field and the solar storms stripped the atmosphere.

9. Tons of ice might be locked below the Mars polar caps. The cap is frozen carbon dioxide.

10. Impacts of asteroids suggest that the impact profile is hitting permafrost.

11. In 1964, Mariner 4, set back pictures of Mars, with only one pass. What it saw was crater like on the moon. The Mariner reveal a dry desert on Mars. Mariner 9, orbited the planet for weeks and make a complete mapping. It discovered the thesaurus bulge. Mariner valley is a rupture in the landscape the width of the US.

12. In 1976, the voyager put a robot to collect soil samples and test for life, no definitive evidence of biology.

13. Discovered in the Antarctica, the ALH84001 was determined to be a rock from Mars. Under an electron microscope, scientist see carbonates. Was the structure a worm or part of a bacteria? Was it biological? NASA claims ALH84001 was early evidence of life on Mars. No consensus was established. The major of people though the structures were mineral activity. Could microbial life exist on the polar poles of Mars?

14. In 2003, The Delta 2 rocket delivered equipment to Mars. The robotic rovers spirit and opportunity are exploring mars. Neither robots have discovered signs of life, but they did find evidence of water.

15. Phoenix will excavate the polar soil. Mar may have internal heat causing water flows.

Jupiter is a Shield making possible life on Earth

1. Jupiter mass is equal to 1,000 earths

2. Jupiter has a similar composition of the sun and is approximately the same age as the sun

3. Jupiter has a very strong electromagnetic field

4. Jupiter protects life on earth. Jupiter grabs meteorites, asteroids, derbies, cleans out a path so other planets can exist. Objects trajectories are deflect, pushed into the sun, or changed in direction. Jupiter protective shield may be the reason there is life on earth.

5. In 3 BC Jupiter and Venus would be in conjunction and visible in the night sky

6. Jupiter has many jets streams. The belt phenomena is thought to come from intense heat that is rising upward

7. Jupiter's magnetosphere is the most powerful radiation elements in the solar system and it is a bubble 450 million miles long. The Suns magnetosphere captures the solar winds capture most of the winds. The Jupiter magnetosphere generates 10 million amps. Jupiter has an aurora.

Summary of The Universe: The Complete Season One

From the mysteries of our own solar system those that surround unexplored galaxies, history and science collide in this ambitious investigation of the Universe.

Questions about the Universe have consumed man since the dawn of time. In the 50 years since humans made their first tentative explorations of space, we have increased our knowledge of the cosmos dramatically, using powerful telescopes, robotic probes, and manned missions. But only recently has computer technology allowed scientists to illustrate in stunning detail their awe-inspiring conclusions. THE UNIVERSE, a groundbreaking series from THE HISTORY CHANNEL®, employs cutting-edge computer-generated imagery to bring distant planets and faraway stars up close, allowing viewers to gaze at black holes and comets, and witness the births and deaths of galaxies and solar systems.

This epic miniseries takes viewers on an exhilarating voyage through the cosmos. From the farthest reaches of distant galaxies back to the familiar face of our moon, THE UNIVERSE brings the mysteries of the heavens down to earth.
