Movie Reviews of The Trouble with Harry

Movie Review: Harry just lies around and gets dirty
Summary: 5 Stars

A young kid Arnie Rogers (Jerry Mathers, Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver in the Leave it to Beaver series) is playing in a field and some shots are fired. Soon Arnie comes upon a body. We are now prepared for suspense and mystery.

Turns out pretty formula; in the sense that everybody and nobody could have done it. At first it seems slow and weird as no one acts normal even for a movie character. They are all slow, nonchalant, and distracted. Harry gets dragged around and buried in controversy.

Soon you can really get wrapped up in the story and anticipate the end. The movie never picks up speed; you just have more loose ends to follow. No one cares who bumped Harry off or if they did as long as it does not affect his or her future.

The draw to this movie now days and maybe then is the list of actors and the introduction of Shirley MacLaine. Edmund Gwenn looks pretty old here and is remembered also for his performance in "Outward Bound" (1930) 25 years earlier. Being directed by Alfred Hitchcock, there is still that Hitchcock feel. So sit back and enjoy it for what it is.

Movie Review: Hitchcock does it - yet again!
Summary: 5 Stars

Hitchcock does comedy. Ok, a BLACK comedy, but comedy nonetheless. The first thing that struck me about this film is the absolute beauty of it. No, really, it is a gorgeous film to look at. The colors are just awesome.

The characters are really something to behold. This is a fun film to watch. The 3rd or 4th time I watched it, I spent my time looking for Mr. Hitchcock, as he likes to make appearances in his films. Go ahead, see if you can find him!

I love this movie. One does not see a master like Hitchcock show his funny side too often - a pity. This is a film that, literally, the entire family can enjoy.

I just wish I could figure out in what movies I have seen (and heard) the sheriff before.

Go ahead - indulge yourself with a film of spectacular color and witty, cutting dialogue.

Movie Review: Funny Thriller from Alfred Hitchcock
Summary: 5 Stars

If you enjoy Alferd Hitchcock as well as I do, here is a Movie that has literally been Lost. Alfred Hitchcock created this Thriller with a twist, as it is a Comedy and in this movie you will see the beginning of a Great Female Star Shirley Maclaine but I am not going to tell you anymore because you should see it, By the way the Movie is loaded with all Great Stars. Its a Alfred Hitchcock Mystery with a twist. I hope you will purchase it and enjoy it as much as I did

Movie Review: A wonderful, gentle, black comedy, 1950s style
Summary: 5 Stars

The Trouble With Harry is Hitchcock's only comedy. It features a wonderful screenplay, great cast, fantastic exteriors and the Hitchcock magic.

Wind back the clock to when movies were a thing to enjoy, sit back and let this gem entertain you.

And as if that's not enough, there's Shirley McLaine in her first screen role, a sheer delight!

Movie Review: Classic Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

The Trouble with Harry is a wonderful Hitchcock movie combining wonderful scenery and a mystery plus romance. The acting is great and I would recommend this movie to anyone that appreciates this combination of attributes.
