Movie Reviews of The Thrill of It All!Movie Review: Love It!!! Summary: 5 StarsThis is a fabulous movie. Great plot, cute kids, clean humor (even the adult parts) without being cheesy and old fashioned. This is my absolute favorite Doris Day movie. Every actor, including the kids, pulls it off so believably. I highly recommend this movie for every Doris Day or James Garner fan and even those who aren't.
Movie Review: If You Love '60s Doris Day, You'll Love This Comedy Summary: 5 StarsThis is classic Doris Day--a stay-at-home mother who suddenly becomes famous by doing soap commercials. It plays like a big-screen sitcom that has great production values, a fantastic supporting cast and, best of all, is a hilarious commentary on the TV business. Carl Reiner's satirical short scenes of "TV shows" are inserted throughout and helps offset the sweet home-life comedy that comes from Day's screen children. It's all just right and worth watching over and over.
Movie Review: ... 7 USD to see my wife Summary: 5 Stars"HEY, what mine is is mine, and what yours is IS OURS !??! ... in this turbo pink fizzy goody Ms. Beverly Boyer [Doris Day], a touching, clever and beautiful housewife of the traditional way, and Dr. Gerald Boyer [James Garner], a respected, white collar specialist in gynaecology, not only are pestering each other down to the foam but also are struggling on a 80.000 USD play ground suddenly created over making ketchup by starting an outrageous emancipation as a terrible and bready nightmare of a homely apotheosis fighting against female money blossom by developing smug strategies of conflict management from "a pig and the Happy Soap" up to "stethoscope whipping".
The again and again prevented, gynaecologically necessary golden shot in order to draw again on old family traditions, tons of gags, lots of confusion and entanglements, two wonderful kids caring for the marital bliss, two solid columns of sensitive home help and not ending gaudy coloured accessories of images and sound are forcing any air out of the viewer's chest as well are pressing all tears stored in his face ... not to forget the sincerely carried along brown paper bag full of inspiring nuts.
Sorry? ... You would like to have some great fun without any restrictions??? ... Well, if you still have left some humour for such stories from the golden sixties, you are most welcomed.
Movie Review: A MUST HAVE CLASSIC Summary: 5 StarsIf anyone wants a look at the chic 60s, you need not look for anything but this.
Doris Day is at her best as the "typical housewife" with her charming husband played by James Garner. The Madison Avenue ad agency angle is played for laughs, and (as always) Doris is perky and stylish.
The story stil holds up, some 45 years later. I hope people re-discover Doris Day, and the sensational pictures she made. They are really good!
From a style perspective, the early 60's are a happy time -bold colors, and here and there space-age design. Though it may be hard to take your eyes off the cast, take a look at the set's and costumes.
If there is retro-chic, this is one of the good examples. ALL of Miss Day's work in the 60's had a strong sense of style.
"Move Over Darling", "The Glass Bottom Boat" and the vastly under- appreciated "Caprice" offer style concepts that still click today.
If you want a night or weekend of pure joy, simply get this and/or some of the other movies. You will love 'em!
Movie Review: Doris and James, Wonderful pairing Summary: 5 StarsAs with any of her films another mindless fun romp, always a joy to watch her and or listen to her speak or sing!
