Movie Reviews of The Three Musketeers

Movie Review: Cute and enjoyable ..
Summary: 3 Stars

This DVD does not stand up to any Disney film from The Little Mermaid - Tarzan, but it was fun to watch with my little brother (8 years old). The story line was good and it was great to see the gang all together. The music was fun enough with a mix of classical fare. My little brother and I had fun with the extra features (listening to opera about tight underwear was a funny treat) and the story taught basic notions of love and working together and being there for friends.

I would support more movies along the lines of this film, our classic friends in movies togethe, being produced. Preview number three for an upcoming Disney Christmas movie got me excited to A) See that movie and B) Think about Christmas for the first time this year (Yes it is hot and humid but I still can think about Christmas!) Some may complain about the movie being too short (its really 60 min minus the end credits) but the story line felt developed enough.

I do have to say watching Donald morph into a chicken was freaky .. and some of the water colored backgrounds come off looking cheap in my opinion. Over all though I would say buy this DVD and support Disney coming out with more movies featuring the mouse, duck, and dog we all love. :) Good luck!

Movie Review: Disney's Musketeers
Summary: 2 Stars

Growing up with Disney, my husband and I were dissapointed in this video. Instead of taking the classic humor of things like falling, tripping, being knocked on the head with an anvel, this video uses degrading language as it's humor. By this I mean the character's would call each other names like "stupid" and cut down on one another.
We bought this for our 3 year old and didn't think we'd have to review it before he watched it because it's Disney! We ended up having to skip through sections we didn't think age appropriate. We didn't even finish watching the video. I would say the minimum age for this video is 5-6yo.
We will be reviewing all Disney videos before we let our children watch them from now on.

Movie Review: Nice but...
Summary: 2 Stars

There was so much potential for this. What could have been a much funny movie was toned down quite a bit. And for Mickey and company's first feature film in many years, wouldn't it have made more sense to release it into the theaters first? With the classic look of Disney animated films from the past, it might have been a winner .

Movie Review: I'm surprized at the glowing reviews
Summary: 1 Stars

Being a fan of Disney for many years, I was surprised when this DVD arrived on my doorstep as a free gift from Amazon for my patronage. I have to say the production quality is not what it used to be in the real Disney era (read before Walt died). I assume most of these "Folks" who have reviewed this are either too young to have seen many of the quality flims Walt was the master of or they let the DVD player run as a baby sitter for very young children being satisfied that it keeps them involved for 60 minutes. The movie is so convoluted, and far from the Three Musketeers I had a hard time seeing where it fits the story. I'm sure its great for kids 2 to 6, but really this is not what I expect from Disney. Of course this is not the Disney I know and love from 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. This is a new era Disney which I must say I dislike its not even of the quality of the 80's and 90's stuff. Finding Nemo was a much better, and involving, entertaining movie. The stuff that Pixar is involved with is of a higher quality than the dribble Disney has been putting out on its own. I can only say that if you have very young children, who are easily entertained then this might suffice, as an adult the age of 40 I had a hard time watching this. In the past I had no troubles watching high quality Disney flims, cartoons whatever. This is a poorly concieved thinly vailed attempt at making money, from the other reviews I see here it seems to be working :(

Movie Review: Simply Awful
Summary: 1 Stars

Very sad to see the classic characters treated like vapid Hollywood brats. Yes, there is an attempt at a message of 'teamwork', but it's pounded in with a sledgehammer against it's will as the characters constantly try to one-up and insult each other before deciding, nonsensically, "Oh yes, let's work together."

Like so much of the modern Hollywood children's fare, this movie is constantly choking on it's own wit as it makes fun (rudely) of the 'children's classic' genre even as it tries to become one.

Suffice to say, if you're a 45-y-o adult child with a room full of Star Wars and Disney collectibles, you'll love this movie.
