Movie Review: an OLD FASHIONED, ENTERTAINING CARTOON
Summary: 5 Stars
And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
They got it right. Mickey's first feature is a delight. It is funny, well written, directed, and has good animation in the right places. The most startling thing about this film is the music: it is based on classical pieces with witty, Gilbert and Sullivan style lyrics. My favorite: Pete sings a Villain Song to IN THE HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING by Edvard Grieg. And the finale recalls the best of the Marx Brothers.
The characters are in character, treated with great affection. Mickey doesn't have the show stolen from him by the others. This is well worth buying and I wish that it had been in cinemas. It is a nice, oldfashioned and very funny CARTOON.

This is a quality film, really. I am the parent of a toddler and have seen a lot of really bad films. This movie is quick, has an above-average story line, good music (lyrics set to classical music)and was a real pleasure to watch (even for the 20th time). There are a few mildly dark elements (Pete, "bad guys", swordplay, etc.)and a bit of slapstick action, but there are equally good themes of bravery, friendship and teamwork and a happy ending. I still suggest watching it with your child(ren) just to discuss it further, if needed. All in all there is nothing the average toddler can't handle. I only wish that there were more quality children's films like this...Yeah I'm talking to you, Elmo!Movie Review: Ditto, thanks Amazon, but not for me.

Like the previous reviewer, Amazon sent this to me as a gift and asked me to review it. I watched it and can't say I enjoyed it, not because it was bad, but because it was 30 years beyond me. This is for kids, not for 35 year adults who like animation, but found it too juvenile. The animation is good and obviously digital, and I found the songs amusing and fun, but again, this isn't on the order of the Lion King or Disney's superb Hunchback of Notredame. This would be ideal for kids between the ages of 3 to probably 8 or 9 and recommend it for that age group.Movie Review: Great movie ! 5 stars for best music ! My kids love it !

I was really pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this movie was. Especially refreshing was the classical music . I did not have to say ,"turn that noise down" once during the movie, in fact I was humming along. A really fun score ! I have five kids ages 3-10 and this is their favorite Disney dvd by far. The first time they saw it the music drew in 4 adults who generally have no interest in children's movies. They were laughing as much as the kids. So nice to have a movie that the whole family can enjoy together.Movie Review: Excellent movie!!...

Wow! Great classic animation, it's fun.. it's funny.. and it's about time! Finally, Mickey Mouse fans have something to cheer about! I love this movie, my wife loves this movie, and so will you. I highly recommend it. Reserve it! Buy it! :)
