Movie Reviews of The Three MusketeersMovie Review: Best Thing Disney's Done (Without Pixar) For Quite a While! Summary: 5 Stars
Once upon a time, Disney was one of the best animation companies ever, putting out stuff like The Little Mermaid and The Lion King and Aladdin. Now, Disney has mainly turned to two things:
1. Sequels that aren't worth seeing
2. Original works that aren't worth seeing
Fortunately, The Three Musketeers doesn't fall into either of these categories. It's an original, funny, cute movie that doesn't run too long to hold a kid's interest. (It's barely over an hour.)
Captain Pete, leader of the musketeers, has a secret plan -- a plan to kidnap Princess Minnie with the "help" of the Beagle Boys, and become king of all France. However, Minnie soon becomes suspicious that something's going on, and demands bodyguards. Captain Pete hires Micky, Donald, and Goofy, three janitors who have long dreamed of being musketeers. He's sure that they will never be able to stop him!
Little does he know....
This movie is definitely better done than most of the stuff Disney's putting out now. Although a few parts are predictable (Mickey and Minnie will fall in love, the musketeers will win, etc.), there are several funny sight gags, plays on words, great songs, and inside jokes (At one point, Pete quotes part of the theme song to the Mickey Mouse Club - my mom had to explain that one to me) that more than make up for that.
Things I Loved:
*The message of teamwork
*The running joke about not being able to understand a thing Donald was saying
*The way Mickey and Donald were wearing their regular clothes under their musketeer suits
*Pete's helpers, the Beagle Boys. They -- especially the smallest one -- were hysterical!!
Anyway, if you want to watch a recent Disney film, this is the one to see.
Movie Review: Well, after time and some re-watching... Summary: 5 Stars
Well, I've re-watched the Prince and the Pauper and The Three Musketeers, and I have to say that this movie is, well--mediocre in comparison. There's no doubt that the filmmakers tried, but there were a few holes left to fix.
The characters are all pretty good except for one or two things... #1: Pete. He USED to be a real BADGUY! He was scary and mean and VILLAINOUS. First, they took that GOOD voice actor away (HE actually sounded SCARY!), and then his cigar. So he's become a lisping, unfunny moron. And #2: THEY DITCHED THE WEASELS! Why, Disney, WHY? The weasels were awesome! And they sure beat the stupid Beagle Boys, who aren't funny OR scary. The weasels were BOTH.
The story needed a lot more work, too. How would KIDNAPPING Minnie, but not HURTING her make him king? Just a couple more things to work on. Also, the sequences would have been better if they had kept talking to the barest of minimums. Having a silent cartoon would have been better, since that's basically what mickey and the others started as. I mean, yeah, they HAD sound, but you could still read everything that was going on without it. The same was the case here, only they had to tell rather than show EVERYTHING, apparently.
All in all, this not a bad flick. Not as funny or good as Prince and the Pauper, but definitely reminiscent of it, which is a step in the right direction for Disney.
Movie Review: Storybook 5 Stars
It's always been in the fairy tales for me....That maybe why I'm so sappy, who knows! I do know that I was glad to see some throwback Disney out on DVD. With everything making major comebacks I'm happy to be able to share the love of Disney's originals with my children.
Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy who are janitors dream of adventures as Musketeers. As Captain Pete (still the villain) tries relentlessly to get rid of Minnie Mouse (The Princess) he decides that with my favorite trio as her body guards that it's a done deal, and he can take over the kingdom. As usual Captain Pete is in for a major surprise as the crew fumbles to the rescue.
Watch how our clumsy crew save the day and fall in love All 4 1 & 1 4
Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse
Donald Duck & Daisy Duck
Goofy & Clarabelle Cow
Ain't love grand?!?!?!?!?!?!
Movie Review: I Couldn't Stop Watching It! Summary: 5 Stars
When I first saw this movie, I thought it was going to be so boring 'cause I only watched a little bit of it. Then I was soon reunited with the movie again and I watched it once more. I fell in love with it! This proves the power of teamwork and it even has romance in it. I love the fact that Donald and Goofy came back for Mickey. And I also found it adorable, when, this is going to sound stupid, when Donald and Mickey hugged and he said to him that he knew that he would come back. Anyway, another thing I like is the humor in this like when Pete was teasing Mickey with a little bit of the Mickey Mouse Club March song and also when Mickey says "We'll save the princess, even if we die trying" and Donald says "Die?" This movie is just too glorious, and one day, I shall have it and I will watch it till I turn 100.
Movie Review: WOW! COULD BE A CLASSIC SOME DAY! Summary: 5 Stars
Incredibly enough this is technically Mickey and Donald's first "full-length" feature in this direct to video release. And wow...what a terrific job!
Mickey, Donald, and Goofy star as the Three Musketeers. The plotline is about how Peg-leg Pete is trying to kidnap Princess Minnie and claim the throne for himself, with the help of the Beagle Boys. The Musketeers must come to the rescue!
The most surprising things is the quality of the animation. While not on a par with 30's and 40's classics, it's still better than what Disney did in the 60's and 70's with a depth and perspective that really shines.
The Extras are nice with the actual characters doing the commentary about their roles, and a good making of feature. Kudos to Disney for putting out great stuff like this.
