Movie Reviews of The Thorn BirdsMovie Review: My favorite movie. Summary: 5 Stars
The Thorn Birds movie has been my favorite movie since I was a very young girl. It illustrates how strong love can be and the pain that this love can bring. It also shows the irony of life and the things one can and cannot change. I love this movie and can watch it over and over and it still can bring tears to my eyes. I even named my home based business after this movie. It is wonderful that I finally added this movie to my private collection.
Movie Review: The Best Mini Series Ever!! Summary: 5 Stars
I watched this when it first aired in 1983. I was 19. I loved it then and I love it now. Years after it first aired I purchased a 4 VHS tape collection. I'm not usually a reader of romance novels, nor a mini series watcher, but this was epic. I have lost count of how many times I've watched it, but I simply love it and will forever. It was beautifully done and no one does soundtracks like Henry Mancini. I highly recommend it.
Movie Review: The Thorn Birds Summary: 5 Stars
The amazing thing about The Thorn Birds is that not a single scene is wasted - every sublime minute of this series serves a purpose and contributes to the overall arch of the story's plot. What's even more amazing is that so much material has been crammed into the film's roughly eight hours. You'll leave this miniseries utterly exhausted. Superb stuff - well worth the ridiculously low twenty dollar price tag.
Movie Review: Still a Classic Summary: 5 Stars
This is a yummy classic. How can you beat Richard Chamberlin, Barbara Stanwyck, Christopher Plummer, Jean Simmons, Earl Holliman, Ken Howard, Rachel Ward, and Bryan Brown. Based on the book by the prolific Colleen McCullough, this is a curl-up-in-your-pajamas weekend delight. Plus, knowing that Ward and Brown fell in love and married after filming adds a real-life twist to the story. One of my all-time favs!
Movie Review: Great product Summary: 5 Stars
Finally.....my favorite television mini-series of all time on DVD. It's wonderful to be able to watch the entire series without commercial interruption. Too bad 25 years ago no one knew that someday we would want to see behind the scenes footage - "the making of The Thorn Birds." The only thing that would make this DVD set better is if there were extras, but I'm sure they are not available.
