I had seen portions of "The Thorn Birds" on several occasions, so I decided to purchase the 2-part DVD so that I might see the whole movie from beginning to end - and I am so glad I did! I will watch the movie many times over. The story is a love story that captures the viewer and doesn't let go until the movie has ended. You just wish it would never end. Richard Chamberlain is the most handsome of his career in this movie - who wouldn't fall in love with him? I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves thrilling and forbidden romance, excitement and just a great story.Movie Review: So Glad this came out in DVD

My wife and I have waited with great anticipation for the Thorn Birds to come out on DVD. We loved watching it as a miniseries when it first came out in 1983.Our sons ages, 21, 17, and 15 have never seen it. THEY SAT THROUGH THE WHOLE SHOWING WITH US......AND LOVED IT!! They now want to watch it with their girl friends.
I highly recommed this to a new generation of viewers. The struggles and choices we make in life are universal, regardless of age and time.
My wife and I consider this the BEST miniseries we've ever seen.
We highly recommend that you buy it.

This has got to be one of my all time favorite movies (and books!).To say they did a fabulous job making this movie is an understatement.It's a beautiful, touching, timeless masterpiece. They could'nt have cast Richard Chamberlain in a more perfect roll. I feel it's his best work. I fell madly in love with him when I first watched the mini series on TV. He's just about the most beautiful man I have ever laid eyes on. I recently bought my own copy and watched it again and it did not fail to affect me the same as is did when I first watched it. I have read the original novel and felt it's a great and epic story, so I've searched in internet for more about this.
Finally I found that have a miniseries made for 26 years ago and I can found this DVD in Amazon.com unexpectedly. I'm very glad for that and there are many products in Amazon.com that I can buy, so I'm now searching in that regularly and maybe can find some other products are interest.
By the way, Richard and Racheal both are very outstanding and very good performance in this miniseries. I love them!!

Definitely a 5 Star performance on all counts! Captivating from the very beginning. A dramatic, passionate and intense love story. Excellent character development. Richard Chamberlain is a brilliant actor. The story, setting, music and everything that goes into producing a stellar mini series is evident in this memorable performance. I sincerely hope that they will follow up and make the sequal "The Missing Years" available on DVD soon! Another stunning and brilliant performance no one will want to miss!
