Movie Reviews of The Thorn BirdsMovie Review: One of the Best Mini-Series Ever Made Summary: 5 Stars
I watched this TV mini-series in 1983-84. In my opinion it was a top notch story, and one of the best TV mini-series ever produced for television. Richard Chamberlain was great and so was the woman who played his love interest, Maggie. It was easy for the viewer to connect and feel for the characters.
Note To S. Pangestu "Pretty Bookworm" (Los Angeles,CA) /// Regarding the review written on January 21,2006: It is just a piece of creative fiction for crying out loud. You act as though it were reality TV. If the characters would have confirmed to your beliefs, there would not have been a conflict and hence, not a story.
Movie Review: One of the TRULY great love stories of all time... Summary: 5 Stars
I recently watched this movie for the first time, I was a bit too young to watch it's original broadcast in 1983 and too understand it at that time. This is a MUST HAVE to any movie collection. The tragedy of watching Father Ralph DeBricassart fall in love with Meggie, but knowing that he can not be the man to her that he wants to be, and that she wants him to be because of his devotion to God. Watching Meggie grow, and the pain that their "Forbidden" love causes them both. Follow the lives of Meggie and Father Ralph through their lives, their love, their losses... A truly AMAZING story of love and loss.
Movie Review: Greatest Mini-series ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I remember liking this mini-series when it came out 25 years ago. Didn't remember much of it though. I had to stay home to recover from a surgery so I asked my wife to see if the library had this DVD primarily because I heard portions of it were filmed in Kauai, and we are going there for the first time in May.
Well, what a treat! I thought the Thorn Birds was the most romantic/tragic love story I have ever seen.I enjoyed it even more now that I am a parent, and looked at things a little differently. The characters and the acting is superb. This is a great story! The hours just flew by !
Movie Review: i know you'll come back to me because I'm the one that loves you! Summary: 5 Stars
beautiful movie the thorn birds is. Talk about passion beyond limits!
If you love romances where theres always something that tears the two apart and they strive to be together, then the thorn birds is for you. If you like romances between an older man and a young woman than this is really really for you. If you like romances with very forbidden love, then just get the movie and enjoy it. I first saw this series when I was but a 13 year old girl and had loved it ever since. I loved it so much I finally added it to my collection. hope you appreciate it as much as I do. chow.

Movie Review: Meggie really should've read the book 'He's Just Not That Into You' Summary: 5 Stars
I am really late to the party -- although this miniseries was aired in 1983, I finish watching it just now. I love the story, however I can't help thinking that both Ralph and Meggie are very clueless. *spoiler* Ralph, make up your mind. Which one do you want? The Church or the woman? If you do want to serve God, don't keep coming back to the woman and make her heartbroken and confused.
The same goes to Meggie. Had she known of the book 'He's Just Not That Into You', she would've left Ralph long ago.
But without the drama, it wouldn't be a good story, would it?
