Movie Review: Anime Collections...."The Third"!
Summary: 5 Stars
I've been collecting anime for the past 3-4 years. I love anime and I recently purchased and watched vol. 1 of "The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye". This show became my 49th anime show in my whole anime collection. The night I got it I was so happy becuase not only did I get to see "The Third", but I got my 50th anime show as well. I kept thinking what a blessing it was to have seen and encountered such great anime. Now owning 50 plus shows I can happily say that I've never once picked a show that I have regreted. From Dragonball GT being my 1st show to Full Metal Panic being my 58th show I'm very proud to have "The Third" into my mix of anime shows. I liked the first volume a lot. I really enjoyed how the anime was presented as if it was a story. The music was great and it really fit the incredible scenes in the show. The writers really know how to write. Get "The Third". I promise, you won't regret it. I never give up on anime. If I start a new show, I watch it till the end. Anime is my passion and I will continue to collect more and more.

The Third - The Girl with the Blue Eye; Volume One: EncounterOne Girl. One Tank. No Problem... In a devastated world overrun by monstrous bugs and ravaged by outlaws, there's only one person to call when you really need a job done right: Honoka. With a sixth sense for danger, sword skills that are second to none, and a smart-aleck A.I. tank by the name of Bogie, she's ready to tackle any job and solve any problem for her clients. But while crossing the desert one night, she finds a young man alone in the wasteland. It's the first step of a journey that will challenge even Honoka's amazing skills to their very limit! Contains episodes 1-4.
The 24-episode anime, also known as "The Third - Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo," is based upon a popular series of novels and short stories written by Ryou Hoshino and illustrated by Nao Goto. Spanning more than 16 volumes, the original fiction has appeared in Japan's Dragon Magazine since 1999, alongside the serialized novels that inspired the hit Full Metal Panic! and Slayers anime series. Additionally, a manga adaptation ran in Dragon Age magazine, home to the Full Metal Panic!, Slayers and Chrono Crusade manga. XEBEC (D.N.Angel, Negima!, Fafner, Elemental Gelade) produced the animation for the TV series, which ran on Japan's WOWOW satellite channel from April through October of 2006.

Honoka, the heroine of the sci-fi adventure The Girl with the Blue Eye (2006), is a self-described jack-of-all-trades: she roams the desert that covers most of the world, battling monstrous insects and doing odd jobs. Her only companion is the A.I. tank Bogie, who supervises her activities and argues with her. One night, she meet Iks, a mysterious blond with a supernatural ability to heal injuries. The Third, the council that rules the devastated Earth, wants him, and Honoka's determined to keep him out of their clutches. The Girl with the Blue Eye offers handsome landscapes of the starlit desert and unusually well-integrated combinations of drawn and computer animation.
But director Jun Kamiya fails to infuse the material with any sense of narrative drive. He has the standard elements at his disposal: murderous mecha, insect-monsters, a sinister cabal that recalls SEELE in Evangelion, and a sword-and-gun-toting heroine. But there's no sense of urgency, and the show plods, despite the action sequences. (Rated 15 and older: violence, alcohol use, risqu? humor, brief nudity) --Charles Solomon
