Movie Reviews of The Taming of the ShrewMovie Review: Visual Feast and Great Fun Summary: 5 Stars
Burton is inspired as ever. Liz is no Shakespearean actor but, like the Zeffirelli production, stunningly beautiful and great to watch. Not the whole play, but I've enjoyed it countless times so, I say-- worth owning. Check out Zeffirelli's background detail and handling of crowd scenes-- wonderful!
Movie Review: Taming of the Shrew Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is a classic. It is one that I have wanted to get for ages. The chemistry between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton makes the whole movie that much more exciting. I could watch it over and over. If you like an old fashioned movie with a lesson to be learnt, then this is the movie for you.
Movie Review: At their absolute best Summary: 5 Stars
There is nothing finer that a Fellini production - couple this with the two quintessential actors and pleasure will be had by all. The roles speak to the personalities of the actors so there is a duality that is much fun to watch. This is a must for any collection - to be revisited often.
Movie Review: Classic Burton/Taylor Summary: 5 Stars
I first saw this movie, as a child, and I just had to add it to my collection. Burton/Taylor are so perfectly cast in their roles, I really can not imagine other actors in those parts. I think a young Michael York does a good job with his small part, too.
Movie Review: Great Movie Summary: 5 Stars
It's a great movie adaptation. Burton is especially charismatic as Petrucchio, stealing every scene. Taylor is less mesmerizing as Katerina, as the role really calls for a younger actress--but she manages as well as possible under an age handicap.
