Movie Reviews of The Taming of the ShrewMovie Review: Old Favorite Summary: 5 Stars
"The Taming of the Shrew" is a Shakespearean classic but this film rendering is MUCH more fun. It's sets and costumes are beautiful, it's got humor and action, and it's WONDERFULLY overacted by the gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor and the wily Richard Burton. Both are at the top of their form in this comic and karmic love story. Eat it up -- it's delicious!
Movie Review: The Taming of the Shrew Summary: 5 Stars
Taming of the Shrew by Franco Zeffirelli allows its viewers to experience the epoch, in which the drama develops. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor bring the drama and the essence of comedy to this production. Again, Zeffirelli invited us through this espectacular production to be part of his own experience and luxury that overwealms ourselves.
Movie Review: Beautifully made, intelligently spoken. Summary: 5 Stars
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton may not currently be in vogue, they did an outstanding job with this Shakespeare play. They knew what they were saying and said it well. If you don't know what the words mean, you can't act the part (as was very obvious in a rescent Romeo and Juliet movie). Zefferelli is a master with the Bard. Check it out.
Movie Review: A perfect romp Summary: 5 Stars
Could there be more perfect casting than Taylor & Burton? They're so ideal for these parts that it's virtually typecasting. But whether you're a fan of that famous duo or not this movie's simply great fun. This is such an easy film to enjoy that we find it's a good introduction for those not familiar with Shakespeare. Buy it and ENJOY!
Movie Review: Better in widescreen Summary: 5 Stars
I like the widescreen version of this much better than the standard size view because you can tell more of what is happening. Especially when Tranio says "No profit grows where is no pleasure taken." In the regular size view, he looks like he's talking to the horse. In widescreen, we see that he's talking to the handler.
