Movie Review: Charming Biblical Interpretation
Summary: 5 Stars
I was a bit apprehensive about this film after reading the reviews. I was expecting to be bored and disappointed. Well, make your own judgement as I did. As for the frequent complaint that the movie doesn't follow the actual Book Of Ruth, let's face it--an average reader can read the book in about 15 minutes or less and there is not that much expository nature to it. I thought it was pretty darn creative the way they filled out the story to make it more interesting and add depth to the characters. The movie is a fine example of the 50's style biblical epics, the DVD transfer is okay, and there are few extremely short but nifty newsreels about the film and its premiere. It's not the Bible--it's wholesome entertainment with a positve message. Enjoy.Movie Review: Loved the story of Ruth

We live in an age where there are few good biblical movies anymore. Dreamworks made some good ones, Notably "The Prince of Egypt". Even Hollywood of old did not make many. This is one of the few and it is very good. Gaps were filled in based on Jewish tradition. Nothing wrong with that. Boaz at first did seem to not be crazy about Ruth in this film, but later on he told her he loved her from the first time he saw her in his field. Very Romantic !! The people were against her at first because they did not know her, but they knew where she came from. This is a normal thing of course. This is one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever seen.
I enjoyed this more than David and Bathsheba. The innocense and purity of Ruth was so refreshing. I've looked at it just about everyday since I've received it. Stuart Whitman went on to make a career out of acting. What happen to this actress? Does anyone know?
I also loved the bond that Naomi and Ruth acquired. The ending of this story is the most exciting for me. To know that Ruth was the great grand mother of King David and an ancestor of Jesus just blows my mind. One of the great biblical films in my book.

I had seen this movie in a theater when it first came out forty some years ago. I liked it very much then. I became more impressed about the story of Ruth when I became a christian later in my life and learned more about the story from the Bible. I bought the DVD the first chance I got. I liked this movie not only because it was a epic story about love, faith and courage but also I very much enjoyed the high quality of the remastered widescreened cinemagraphy by the 20th Century Fox. I am very pleased with my product. I had been looking for this movie for a very long time. I rarely am on the computer except for work. You could say even with the computer generation I am still walking around with my head in the clouds when it comes to computers.
