Movie Review: Not an epic film but worth a viewing

Looking as though it were made on 1/10 of the respective budgets of such big-screen epics as "The Ten Commandments," "Ben-Hur," and "The Greatest Story Ever Told," "The Story of Ruth is an entertaining speculation on the life of Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi. One of the Bible's most poignant relationships, the story is given the "Hollywood treatment" with a little sex, debauchery, bulging pecs, and valiant Christians. The acting is adequate for a film of this type with nods going to Peggy Wood as "Naomi." In the title role, Elana Eden is serviceable, although I think Haya Harareet from "Ben-Hur" would have made a better choice.
