Movie Reviews of The Sting

Movie Review: An enduring classic...
Summary: 5 Stars

Widely considered one of the best movies of all time, "The Sting" won seven Academy Awards when first released. Paul Newman and Robert Redford pair up on screen to create one of the most entertaining films on record. Set in the depression era, the two con artists set their sights on the biggest mark in the country, a mob kingpin played by Robert Shaw. As they edge closer to the ultimate payoff, things heat up with the feds moving in from one direction and mob from the other. One of the best films ever...

Movie Review: Classic
Summary: 5 Stars

The Sting, which I watched for the first time a month or so ago, is now my favourite film of all time. The plot is sooo clever, something is rarely found in films of today (I have just been watching the Coen Brothers, though, so heh!). The acting is superb, all contributors are on superb form and the only way it could have been better was if a young Clark Gable had Newman's place, but hey! Paul does an amazing job anyway! I'm desperately trying to find Butch Cassidy now, it's prettt difficult when you live in the UK!

Movie Review: Wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

The winner of Best Picture in the Academy Awards, this momentus film deserved that highest of honers in the film industry. After watching thsi movie approximately once every year or two, almost every year of my 13 years of existence, I can safely say that, after Gone With the WInd, The Wizard of Oz, and all three Wallace and Gromit movies, this is my all time favorite movie. I love movies and have been a huge fan of the academy awards for as long as I can remember. This is a wonderful film.

Movie Review: Classic Duo
Summary: 5 Stars

The Sting is not a sequel to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but it has all the feel of "here we go again" as the Paul Newman and Robert Redford steal the screen. A dynamic plot played by two actors in their prime leads to an amazing experience for the viewer. Get this movie, rent it, buy it, but definitely see it because it is still one of the greatest movies around. It's currently number 99 all time on IMDb's top 250 and rightfully in the top 100 36 years after its release.

Movie Review: One of the great movie classics!
Summary: 5 Stars

I thought this film would be boring, but I was so wrong! the acting is stunning, obviously, and the plot is fantastic. The quality of the film is shown in the first scene of an elaborate theft and this is the basis for the rest of the film, with a clever and complicated web of conning and bluffing. The 20's setting is superb and a feel-good film with a twist - and the soundtracks damn good too! p.s. Robert Redford looks really sexy - well, come on, it was a long time ago!
