Movie Reviews of The Spirit of Qi Gong- Chinese Exercises for Longevity

Movie Review: Wonderful Qi Gong
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this DVD because it is beautifully made, easy to follow and I never tire of it. The movements are clearly shown and explained and the grouping of the elements is elegantly supported by the scenery in the background and by the music.

But best of all are the results I have had from doing the Qi Gong: I noticed I slept better after the very first time I did the exercises, and after the first week I noticed increased flexibility and I had more energy. My ability to deal with stress has also increased and I feel generally happier and my moods are more even.

Movie Review: Opens doors to health
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent source of learning and practicing a very healthy exercise/moving meditation.

Walk through the various movements to energize your body, mind, and mood. Do just one a day and see what a difference it will make. Somedays you will feel like doing more than one or even all of the exercises.

I have been practicing over eight years. These exercises have made a fantastic impact on my health. Now as I teach Seniors, I share some of these movements with them to improve their health. They have a great time learning these things and are so proud of themselves when they see the results.

Try it - you'll like it.

Movie Review: Not even close to Terry Dunn
Summary: 2 Stars

This DVD was really a disappointment. I'll try to hit all the fronts here:

1) The editing of the scenes is bad; you are told to do something first on way and then in the reverse, but the video shows the instructor first doing it one way then... in the next cut, doing it the other way, and transitioning to the way you were supposed to have already been doing it. Hard to follow.

2) Each section seems to end with movements and positions that are never named, described, nor explained. I still wonder what they were for...

3) The instructions are frequently incomplete. How should your hands be? Where are your feet? What is the focus? What is your weight distribution? You are left to guess.

4) The demonstrations often don't match the instruction. She indicates that you should breath at one time or another, but then doesn't do it that way herself, or in some sections doesn't provide instruction on breathing at all.

5) Her "co instructors" do it differently than she says to. Ugh.

If you want more precise instruction, see other videos like Terry Dunn's Chi Kung For Health ( Qi Gong ) - Five Standing Meditations to know that you should have your toes pointed in or out, that your palms should be pointing down, and that your breathing should be rhythmic and slow.

This video (and instructor) are a pass.

Movie Review: Great for over 60!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my mother who is 67 years old and has developed foot problems as the result of using the treadmill (and old age). She has practiced with this DVD for 3 months and there has been great changes! Her face is toned, her complexion is rosy and bright, her lungs feel expanded and strong, her digestion has improved, and she just look great overall! Although her feet will hurt after she has been moving about during the day, the exercises on this DVD will help stretch the feet muscle and heal them for the next day. She goes to church every Sunday, and the women at church have noticed the changes in her. I've ordered two more for her friends.

Movie Review: one of my favorite qigong dvds - pretty and professionally filmed
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of my favorite dvds. The movements are divided into the five elements and gives explanation for each element and its associated mreidians and movements. This is one professional looking dvd! They are in different settings and different clothing for each element. For example water element- they are wearing blues and are next to a pond. In Fire element they are wearing red and next to a fire. Deborah gives great explanations throughout and is joined by different people according to their predominant element!!! If you don't feel like you really understand elements, this will get it into you on a very core level. This is a great qigong dvd! If she does any more dvds, I will get them too!
