Movie Review: Bernadette's great response
Summary: 5 Stars
I have seen this movie any number of times and I like it more each time. Bernadette is a good example of someone coresponding to God's wishes even when doing so seems to go counter to one's life. The Blessed Virgin promised Bernadette to make her happy in the next life, but not necessarily in this life. Bernadette said that once one has seen the Blessed Virgin everything else seems unimportant in this life. When Bernadette was asked if she was sorry to have to leave this world, she shook her head NO.Movie Review: Excellent

One of the great all time inspirational family films. Brilliantly acted and very moving. There are some historical innaccuracies, for example-Bernadettes personality. She was anything but meek before she went to stay the sisters of Nevers.
Her local culture was matriacrchal, which meant authority and inheritance passed through the female line. She was considered the family "heir", which was a position of authority and honor. Despite the innaccuracies, a truly great movie!!

This portrayal of Bernadette's life takes place in Lourdes, France, and depicts the attitude of the Catholic Church and the town's politicians
when the Virgin Mary appears to this uneducated niave young girl.

I named my only daughter after Bernadette, as a tribute to what this Saint faithfully received from our Holy Mother, and then shared with the rest of the world. This is a classic, shown in black and white, a great family movie. It captures a faith so strong, unquestionable, unwavering, demonstrated by Saint Bernadette. Despite being the target of unbelieving town folk, she continued to be faithful and did exactly what was asked of her by our Lady, The Virgin Mary. This resulted in many healings and conversions through the Holy Waters of Lourdes France, that continue still today.
